was trying to make sense of the locations of interest published by the MOH

it's not easy!

Yea, that looks like a bug - until yesterday the dates added (which I think is a new column for this outbreak) were correct..

Batman: "At some point we will have to start to be more open in the future and the Prime Minister said some of the area, a few weeks ago for us. It will include making sure that we've got very high vaccination rates, the more people that get vaccinated, then the more options we're going to have."

Hipkins had some interesting comments on Q+A this morning. Well worth watching.

well i'm pleased that they are not hell bent on getting down to zero cases for 2 weeks. i've been looking at delta around the world. nobody has achieved that so far. it will be a world's first if we can.

Don't know much about caller ID system's, but caller ID spoofing is mentioned under phone scams here... https://www.tcf.org.nz/consumers/digital-living/stay-safe-online/phone-scams/

Yeah. But someone going to the effort to sign up with a voip provider to try scam you, won't have an idea of your movement's that need to be confirmed perhaps? :)

Believe any hesitation callbacks are also an option. But subjected to the same hold wait times.

Oblivian: CID is on moh. And would have been directed to it in any anticipation

They will also verify your name and contact details. These calls from the Ministry's call centre staff will usually come from (09) 801 3009 or (09) 306 8748.

The fly in that ointment is the "usually".  Then what?

In any case, person receives call and is expected to scan through multiple MOH web pages and locate those numbers in a few seconds to confirm the call is legit?

Needs an easier way of securely identifying the calls as genuine.

Otherwise a gaping hole for scammers to exploit.

==

There are call ID security options that could be integrated with the app (or MOH website if person called doesn't have the app); eg. caller provides a single use code that can be entered into the app for conformation?  Or feeds a code through to the app immediately before the call, or ...?

There seems to be a lot of confusion around the Bayley's event.  NZ Herald reported it was no longer a location of interest. This story has now disappeared.

A friend who is isolating as a result of this and has checked has confirmed the s70 notice is still in place for this event and that as a contact of somebody who was there he still has to isolate until his 5 day test result is back.

All of this poses the question of why it's no longer listed as a LOI on the website...

To add to this - it appears this event has been removed from the website (there are some locations which were never listed) as it was a private event. Everybody who attended was known and can be traced so in line with the MoH comments yesterday about not listing such events, it was removed. It is still a LOI, and s70 notices still apply to everybody who was there.

Does seem a little strange that they would remove it though, the Thursday night Mitre 10 one is still listed.

QLD got close.

Delta outbreak started around 28 or 30 July, peaked at 17 local cases on 4 Aug, back to zero on 15 Aug with just two more (already in isolation) in the following five days.

Edit:  Arguably SA did, but for a much smaller and better identified incident; 19 - 27 July, peaking at 5 local cases on 22 July.  Eight days to get back to zero local cases.  Only 3 cases in the following 4 weeks, none in the last 18 days.

Covidiots aside. It's entirely possible

Humans are the factor.

People forget it doesn't have wings or a magic wand that touches you and poof, you're infected

There is a very good article from the BBC this morning which explains the bodies various immune response scenarios to COVID-19 in an easy to understand way.

Covid: What’s the best way to top up our immunity? There are marked differences in your immune system after a natural infection with coronavirus and after vaccination.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

4 Days and counting and my wifes result isn't back yet!

Similar here too. My 15yo son tested on Wednesday and still waiting for his result. He has flu like symptoms.

Finally got email of the result this morning. It is Negative. Yay!!!

what i meant was - how can this page of hundreds of lines be useful to someone who wants to check if they have been to a location

not being overly critical. but there must be a way to improve this to make it useful

tl;dr

vaccinate, get some immune datapoints into the body

followed by allowing repeated infections until you die of old age
