Truly amazing "news" - the Auckland Herald thinks its staff and readership should be protected ahead of anyone else.
Heaven forbid 😅
I suppose people will be asking why we have MIQ facilities in the heart of our commercial and downtown business areas next! The bloody cheek.

Good point. We should only be using big hotels in rural areas. I'm surprised no one has thought of this.
Most of the posters in this thread are just like chimpanzees on MDMA, full of feelings of bonhomie, joy, and optimism. Fred99 8/4/21
Yay a tiny drop today (shakes head). On serious note, that is not good news a new case in Waikato (other than the Coro one).

bring back the campas
TeaLeaf: Fair go the Maori party having a go at the Nats for forcing Jacinda's hand on the virtual Parliament being canned. Yay a tiny drop today (shakes head). On serious note, that is not good news a new case in Waikato (other than the Coro one).
Now the nats are complaining that they have to sit 5 metres away from each other. They claim that press in the media can sit 2 metres. Yet the press are masked. Politian's won't be masked. They will also be talking loudly. It has the potential for a super spreader event if someone who has travelled down from Auckland is infected. It is totally ridiculous that they are doing this. They won't win the publics vote forcing this, when it could have been done virtually.
Dingbatt: Every outbreak (post the initial) so far has originated in Auckland and with a border leak. Three so far. (The Wellington restrictions earlier this year were in response to exactly zero community cases.) It’s easy to sit in Christchurch and know what’s best for Auckland. If I was King, I would shut down all the MIQ in Auckland until everyone is vaccinated as well.
Well said.
I would vote for you, that is, if you were a nice King. :-)
King Dingbatt FTW

IMO, that area probably now shouldn't drop to level 3, as Northland was delayed due to having a case.

it can only come from a border leak ;p
unless 5G (@_@) ...
PolicyGuy:Dingbatt:Maybe if they are able to secure more supplies they should go to Auckland since it is worst affected*.The boundaries are set by the alert levels so there won’t be any vaccination migration.
My vested interest in this is to get out of lockdown and return to some semblance of normality. My family and I have been fully vaccinated for months.
* Note: I did suggest vaccine priority for Auckland pages back. It has also been picked up in an opinion piece in today’s
NZAuckland Herald.FTFY

F flap sake.
The Greens are the only party left in NZ to vote for, one with some logic anyway.
Given how much more virus is in spittle with Delta and how much easier it breaks into cells, that is about as logical as MIQ's in Central Auckland, or leaving the Aus/NZ border open for 3.5 weeks after NSWs Delta wave outbreak occured. None of the big parties make any sense in NZ anymore, Im moving back to northern NSW, oh wait, ummm, QLD.
My friend in Cairns has her 2nd dose next week, lucky for them. But reminds me of our situation with dose prioritisation.

That ABC doco I posted yesterday on how Aus coped with the spanish flu with border control was working great until exactly as you said, a border leak (for some reason they allowed nurses ashore from a military vessel)
Here it is again if anyone is really interest, Im not sure why i cant see my editing toolbar on GZ, so my apologies for not hyperlinking it.

It is a corrections officer, from Auckland, who had been at a LoI. He is fully vaccinated, and the prison was in Full L4 mode, so low risk to transfer in to the public
Also the prison is quite close to the AKL border, not a lot of townships or people around that area.
“Last night (Monday) we were advised that a staff member at Spring Hill Corrections Facility tested positive for COVID-19,” he wrote. “The staff member is fully vaccinated, and has not displayed any symptoms. It is important to note that no other site is impacted at the moment.”
The guard, who lives in Auckland, “worked at the prison during the day on Saturday, and that evening was advised that he had a link to a location of interest. He was tested on Sunday and has been isolating since.”
But i guess it will come down to any LoIs of his being outside Auckland, and if something odd shows up
I imagine they will be keeping any eye on that, and will move waikato back to L4 sharply if necessary
Clint
