Yeh No way. There will be kick back and the police will be strecthed too thin.

Due to mandatory masks and scanning?

Level 3 right now, masks are mandatory. Click and Collect you need a mask. Level 2 would be the same, but easier and more shopping.

Mask wise, there is no extra annoyance. Scanning wise, that's hardly  a chore. If these two factors mean that the NZ Police Force will be stretched, well shoot, maybe the SI and rest of NZ outside of Auckland should ge back to Level 4 to better manage those annoyances. No one expects Delta to be a free ride down the levels, but if Kiwi's can't cope with that, well, ok.

Experts call for Level 2

And mandatory scanning and masks in indoor locations. Mitre 10, Bunnings, Garden Centres can manage that easily. Supermarkets being busy, and dairies being small are arguably far higher risk than other shopping locations. Malls? Distancing, and each smaller shop needs to maintain a shopper limit to manage distancing. An announcement is Monday, SI should go to Level 2 Plus, Welly, maybe a few extra days.

Edit: And a big sign in big bold letters, 2 Metres apart, and get what you need then leave, no browsing.

The Masking and scanning is doable, its the fine print that is unlikely to see the light of day

'and the closure of “venues that present a high risk of super-spreading events”, such as bars, nightclubs, gyms and churches.'

Yes, thats an issue. But its better than Level 3. The Levels do need to be tighter as Delta has changed the game. Level 2 needs to step down but not quite as much as it currently does.

And yet the inevitability that if bars, nightclubs, gyms, and churches were allowed to open while there's CT it would be game over, the virus just peaks sooner and with more cases they get closed anyway,  far more people get sick and die, it's a worse outcome for everybody.

I don't think churches in NZ pose a huge risk for non-compliance. Bars, nightclubs, and gyms would need financial support.

Have you not noticed the church at the center of not one this current outbreak but also another church at the center of another big outbreak we had last year. IMHO there needs to be a good look at how to manage churches as certain churches have failed spectacularly to ensure their people are safe. Not wanting to tar all churches with the same brush as I'm aware many have chosen to move their activities online etc, but the few still wanting face-to-face contact really need to either find a safe way to do so and/or find a way to make online activities work for them.

Depends on your feed source. There are floor mics. And they toggle the switch between on some feeds.. sometimes the timing is off.

Churches or any larger inside event (weddings etc) often seem to turn in to super spreader events. Prof Baker said that singing expel a lot of vapor so these churches can just fill with virus.

IMO we should have restricted sizes of gatherings  under a level 1, because IMO if we had, then the outbreak wouldn't have been so large, and the contact tracing wouldn't have been overwhelmed. Apparently our contact tracing wasn't capable of dealing with a Delta outbreak due to the high R0 value.

You might want to re-read what was what was written.

My bad, reading it closely and untangling the double negatives I realised my understanding at the time may not have been correct. A good example of why double negatives (especially when there is more than one!) in the same sentence would ideally be avoided. Apologies to the person I replied to.

The church in this current outbreak was following the rules at the time. What's the difference between the church gathering, the nightclub, the event at the arena or the Mitre 10 event? Any of these could have caused the outbreak.

Singing, where everyone is singing enmass apparently expels a lot of vapour in droplets according to Prof Baker. Plus a lot of the people would know one another etc. Also very closely packed in rows. Whereas a dinner event maybe more spaced out with tables. Nightclubs not everyone knows one another,  maybe a lot of people heavy breathing.

The levels IMO really needed adjusting months ago when Delta became such a threat.
