NZ covid cases numbers now appear to be flatlining rather than in exponential decay.  Currently very similar to the trend in ACT, another jurisdiction that locked down after a single case.

Recent cases have been reasonably confined.  However, with the whole of Auckland now effectively operating as single bubble movement-wise and current low test numbers, there is a significant risk of this blowing out further.  ACT is not a major commercial and industrial hub supplying a wider area, and it's population is less than a third of Auckland's.

Hard to see this situation turning around anytime soon without more tightly targeted management of cases and contacts, and more testing.

Batman: https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/covid-19-coronavirus-delta-outbreak-government-mulls-vaccination-passports-wants-90-per-cent-of-the-eligible-population-vaccinated/ADTDEIQPCHHD3AIMXW7S3ARX5U/

I think they are hoping that if they talk about it enough and people get vaccinated, then they won't have to do it.....

They didn't mandate retail scanning-in..... they talked about it being mandatory, but its not...

(they made firms have scan in and other methods available, but there has been no health order making a customer scan)

Nope. Only select chains like Countdown (and some independent New World by looks) have kept the costs of security on the door to ensure people do so as part of 'condition of entry'

If there is a detected leak outside of AKL, we're so screwed/going to be behind on tracing. Despite the app showing there are now daily scans in the space of 2Million. Which is vastly better than pre-outbreak and shows how many people have not realised an order never stuck. It doesn't take much to spot that is mainly these manned entries or supermarkets. Gas stations, fast food etc... walking straight on in.

I dont like the term passport, To get a passport you require some form ID checks, Verification. What about the people who have done walk ins without ID checks. Does that mean they have to get revaccinated to get a "passport". Or is the little vaccine card given out good enough.

Much like the complaints of Cafes opening up in 3/2 with the sign-in requirements. (our staff cost us and should not be subject to abuse or assault) And bus drivers (need to ask but powerless to enforce)

No-one wants to be 'that person' at the pointy end to make the guidelines actually happen.

Then call it a certificate,

The vaccine car isn't proof, at the moment you can apply to the Min Health for a formal letter to use as proof if you need to for travel etc.

Pretty sure they ask walk ins for Name address etc data so they can match NHI numbers...  - they might not need ID, but pretty sure they ask you for info...

I wonder if the record keeping is 100% accurate in terms of logging everyone's vaccination against the correct NHI. When the passports/certificates roll out we might get a lot of people complaining that the system is refusing to recognise them having been vaccinated.

I see Vaccine passports and a negative Covid test result as quite a reasonable expectation for things like International travel in and out of NZ but for everyday routine things within NZ, will end up just being a mess. High vaccination rates is the logical pathway, but lots of Hospitality businesses need to understand that with even limited Covid in the community lots of society will play things at their own level of 'safe' and simply won't go to such places. Those that keep trading will be trading in a smaller market.

MOH had 18 months to roll out so you'd hope they've rolled out correctly and record keeping properly

they did take my ID NHI Address etc

did anyone get a vaccine and not have to give details?

It's part of a consent process. So I don't expect anyone to have not given detail.

They did have to give reassurance that details given wouldn't be chased for overstayer status afterall..

James Bond:

12 new cases

Media release here:

https://www.health.govt.nz/news-media/media-releases/12-community-cases-covid-19-more-18-million-second-doses-vaccine-administered-date

Big clash between today media release:

"Cases infectious in the community: Ten (56%) of yesterday’s cases have exposure events
Cases in isolation throughout the period they were infectious: Seven (39%) of yesterday’s cases"

And yesterdays:

"Cases epidemiologically linked: 16 of today’s 18 cases. All 16 have been in isolation at home or in an MIQ."

And one case that doesn't end up in either group...

Very low vaccination numbers yesterday, but I am not going to read much into that as it is a sunday.
