Although there does appear to be a ray of hope....

This morning the Locations of Interest was 108, that's the lowest I've seen in this tail,

Also there was no locations added first thing this morning and yesterday only saw 2 locations added....

( there were  16 locations from the 11th September that will fall off tomorrow, so we could finally get down to double figures... )

i'd like to know more about the 2 mystery cases recently - lady showing to prison +ve out of nowhere, i think someone showing up at a hospital also +ve out of nowhere

Like the 700 + mobile testing that went on the other day and showed people with symptoms that didn't get a test. Same thing. They will eventually turn up somewhere, as in random mobile testing, or standard test if they go to hospital, or end up a close contact (of the person they in fact tested) Its very blind out there, the cases you hear about each day are just those that got a test

Seems a little stupid that we obviously aren't incorporating it into the existing Covid app.

Hospo was quite keen but not so much now. With Level 2 patronage numbers now increased, even less so.

This is the big question mark for me too, it really makes it impossible to see a way out of L3 for Auckland.

If this isn't rolled into the tracing app MoH developers should be lined up for the revolution...

My experience with MoH developers convinced me of that long ago. A more useless group of people has not existed since Louis XVI.

If its being developed and run by a Govt department, you know its going to be poorly thought it, poorly implemented, expensive and replaced in 6 or so months when all the bugs can't be fixed.

I can understand if Government and advisers are not looking forward to vaccination certificates for a wide range of 'everyday' activities.
Though many people are perhaps used to having a photo proof of age, or using drivers license for bars etc.
I expect it can energize fredumb movements to greater levels of chaos as per NSW/Victoria and worse.

If we can get vaccination right up to measles levels and imminent approval for down to 5Y olds we may avoid everyday use of vaccination certs ?
Save it for concerts, events, and worksites over x people, where a generous number of security guards are available perhaps ?
International travel and such.

Violence to bus drivers is already a thing, and even pre covid bus and train in my area of town, you saw some pretty out there behavior.
Suppose NSW and Victoria will show how this can work, given number of those who will be triggered into violence they seem to have.

Its a higher level of risk, and then plan B you roll out certificates and more police if you can't get there.
Vaccinate, vaccinate, vaccinate may give you more choice and flexibility at lower cost, even financing mobile vaccination and special events.

Singapore and other places already have apps and hopefully we can exchange or borrow from others work/experience.

So vaccinated workers from other countries can come in but skip MIQ, but anyone from Auckland has to meet the same rules as international arrivals with a negative test within three days to cross a border within the country.

Madness.

Are you talking about the RSE exemption? If so these workers are coming from very low risk places like samoa, and need to do some less stringent isolation at their work accommodation, get tests etc.

Or are you talking about the business Self isolation trial? If so these people are going to do highly monitored self isolation (I think Home Detention style ankle bracelets are being considered) with testing etc.

Re Auckland, this is way looser than international arrivals. No isolation, just some testing. Realistically we can't require 14 days isolation when leaving auckland without causing major issues with stuff like logistics.
