So you remember that 100 person limit at a venue right...

*Poof*

https://covid19.govt.nz/activities/events-and-entertainment/#events-and-entertainment-at-alert-level-2

At Alert Level 2, there are no restrictions on the number of people that can attend an event at a venue, for example at a stadium, cinema, theatre or conference venue — as long as everyone can safely stay 1 metre apart.

This includes indoor and outdoor event facilities, and both ticketed and non-ticketed events.

That was announced for the rest of the country on Monday as a bit of a reward when they announced the "Picnic and beach passes" for Auckland....

It will be interesting to see if it gets taken up by big event venues... technically you could probably have ~33%-50% capacity at really big seated venues like sports grounds or theatres...

Organisers of marathon events will be frustrated by this. If they were to ban spectators then they could almost run their event under these rules, but it would be impossible to keep participants one metre apart for the brief period of time when they are assembling at the start line.

I wonder how the risk compares between a large group of people close together outdoors for ten minutes, versus a similar sized group of people one metre apart in a stadium?

I clearly watched a different thing then. As I can't even find that in the transcript... Unless someone wants to help

In the meantime, as we have throughout the pandemic, we’ve reassessed the settings at
level 2 to see if there are any further ways to ease those settings and maintain a cautious
approach, and we believe there is. Currently, we ask hospitality to be seated and separated
with 1 metre between customers; we then overlay a cap on the top. The view of our public
health officials is that for the rest of New Zealand, we can remove that cap for hospitality. The
seated and separated rule will provide the safety we need. This will also apply to other events
spaces, and we’ll issue guidance on this. Because social gatherings do not use the seated
and separated rule, the limit of 100 will continue to apply for these.

Which is the section I quoted -  The key here is there is no clear distinction and still reads as the 100 limit still applies, contradictory to the events page. As some events may be classified as a social gathering (think something like speedway) and not a general seated hospitality venue. None of them have heard of been given guidance. So a little caught out asking

Different story for a Movie theatre who was limiting patrons. They can presumably now uncap.

I always thought of 'hospitality' as being bars and restaurants. It wouldn't have occurred to me that it would extend to stadiums when I heard this announcement originally.

Correcto. I read it as wiggle room for open foodie joints to basically be lvl 1.5 for the time being. Or more movie punters. They're controlled. Sit down, and get out again.

But until now all the Netball and so on has been played down here with no spectators. As are most outdoor events, as it has had applied the 50, then 100 limit - only TV crew and support staff and so on can make it under a blanket limit. Suddenly, it appears that's been whipped out from under with no official mention. So there is a bit of 'wait, whos that include exactly'

Tried the Beta website for vaccine records.

https://app-beta.covid19.health.nz/

Registering was easy and lo and behold my data is correct :)

I thought it was of interested that despite the login page reading like it was saying you needed to register first on the site, and only then could use realme login. My finding was after trying to login via realme (without registering on the site first), you could then authorise realme to send your details to the site and start the registration process that way. Still had to confirm a few details like email address but process went fine and it showed my details correctly after registering.

I had a few issues.  I had a Realme ID and had the password saved. So I tried to make it a verified one but I failed the visual verification. The picture was taken okay but when I followed the video and shook  my head up and down, left and right and blinked, it failed twice and it said I had to go to an agency. So today went to AA and they said they had had many people with the same issue and asked to see the Realme reference. Once they had that and confirmed it with a tablet device, they took my picture with the tablet and sent me on my way saying I should hear back in a few days.

In parallel I registered for the Health record using email and Passport. But it was unable to match my NHI number. This was yesterday (5/10) but today when I logged into the Heath Account after I had received an email saying my NHI number had been matched, it showed me the two dates I had had the vaccine but said it wasn't sufficient proof for travel yet.

Your vaccination record is not sufficient proof for overseas travel

Vaccination certificates will be available from My Covid Record soon. If you need confirmation of your COVID-19 vaccination for overseas travel, you can request a letter from the Ministry of Health.

I guess we wait for the digital passport?

And a letter may not be acceptable to some overseas countries that require a digital certificate......

its all a bit of a mess...

International travel is largely paper based. Some countries require QR codes on the vaccine certs but they are pretty much all paper based.

Digital solutions are mostly for domestic use, the international ones are very spotty in their use.

Just so im up with the play, does that mean they will not being using the chips in passports? and or, is there not a unique QR code for each person?

Is part of the mess, that each system overseas is a different system? Or is there a main one?

Only places I may need to go to are Aus, Germany, UK. If anyone could let me know what planned passports each will be using that may help me plan if things go sideways.

Well I don't plan to travel until I can come back and either not have to stay in MIQ or can self isolat and now pay $1000 as those in the trial apparenty have to.

They can't use the "chips" in passports.

Each country sets its own requirements and they change over time. You just adapt as required when it's time to travel.

That answered my questions. Im hoping Aus. Germany and UK should all be using a similar system, but at this stage they are all QRbased? Is there a reason the passport chips cant be used?

I guess this is why some are worried they are easily fraudible if QR paper based? (Im not up with QR code tech)

No they are all different. There is no practical way to load new data onto your passport RFID chip.

A QR code is just a link. The one on my vaccine passport app here changes every 5 minutes, I guess to prevent fraud.
