Someone with twisted logic if you ask me.

https://www.stuff.co.nz/southland-times/126684315/school-teacher-i-wont-be-getting-covid19-jab

But if she “caved” and got the vaccine it would go against her teaching beliefs, she said.

She believed the no vaccine mandate was sending a message to kids that teachers were easily bullied.

And as the head of English and social sciences at her school, she taught her students to stand up for their beliefs.

She would no longer be able to stand in front of her students and teach them about “freedom and choice and democracy” if she received the jab, she said.

“I can’t look them in the eyes If I get this jab because it goes against everything I believe in, and I teach kids they need to stand up for what’s right.”

Easily bullied, really what a lot of horse s**t.

Is she not teaching them that democracy is also about consensus and compromise?

Is she not teaching her students about how their rights and freedoms can impact other people and when that happens they need to think about what is right? If she isn't doing this she is just teaching them to be selfish, just like she is.

I guess if if having the jab for the greater good of the community goes against her beliefs then we really don't need her teaching our future generations.

Most anti-vaxxers will use this kind of twisted logic to justify their stupidity. Like a few of the people banned from here when posting "I am not against the vaccine but I will not take it."

Yeah, right. If you are not against it, and it benefits not only yourself and the others around you, what kind of evil justification can you pull out of your ass to say you won't take it?

I wonder if the anti-vaxxers have thought about the impact on any Life Insurance/Income protection etc  they may have either personally or through the workplace, I am sure that a Covid related death or Long Covid and no vaccine will be like mana from heaven for the insurers to turn down claims

102 new cases, holy crap. Are people really that into flouting the law so much that they want to put their lives at risk? Is it really worth it?

Also re the Southland teacher, glad she's not teaching my kids.

Its hard to know now how many are flouting as the original seeders already spread it far and wide.  Most of these cases will be unvaccinated, so it will just keep expanding through them. I read one of the Waikato cases went to Taranaki. Probably lowish risk but eventually that type of leak will seed it.

Plus we now have a situ where there may be many positive cases that wont get tested as they are fully vaccinated and feel fine but they can still spread.

Kinda like someone saying "It's my body and my choice to smoke 60 a day" so the Insurer says "That's another 10% on your premiums, thank-you.".

...but then the smoker complains about their insurance being so expensive compared to all the non-smokers, and it's oh-so unfair?

Sigh Oh, well another one who will soon be complaining about her "rights" to go to concerts and bars being illegally restricted....

I guess her teachings about  rights and democracy didn't involve much on responsibilities

I suppose the we could be worse,

Victoria records 2,232 new local COVID-19 cases and 12 deaths
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-10-21/victoria-reaches-covid-vaccination-70-per-cent-goal/100555616

""
There are now 22,889 active cases of the virus in Victoria, and 187 people have died during the current Delta outbreak.
""

That tent in front of Middlemore fills me with confidence. Yay go supercity !
Maybe we could ask USA to pack some MASH tents and equipment in next Starlifter heading this way for the ice.

Maybe there should be two tents.
One a vaccination tent, a sign out front, choice is yours vaccination tent or a long stay in the other tent...

Really feel sorry for those needing all sorts of tests and treatments that are not being done quickly or at all.

Rights to have medical services impacted by those exercising their rights to get critically ill of 'mostly' preventable serious disease.

I just found out today (and do not know why I missed this) that if you go to any DHB Health setting, they can not ask you your vaccination status. They can ask you if you have such and such symptoms or when or if you have been tested. But not if you have been vaccinated.

So you have C-19 but are asymptomatic and you go to A&E and then admitted to a ward you could be spreading it unknowingly each step of the way.

Apparently it is contrary to the Privacy Act. This needs to be changed. Hopefully with the introduction of Vaccine Passports/Certificates.

it probably has been mentioned in these forums but I have missed it.

CRAZY

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Maybe the front door hospital staff can't but the doctor can. They can ask you anything. They can ask you stuff your mother don't know about.

Yet, if you go in with a bad wound, they ask you your tetanus status. Hmmmm

They sure can ask if you're pregnant even if you go in with a sore thumb.
