Wow 2.6M vaccine doses available for distribution currently.

There is no possible excuse people can give to not get a shot right about now.

For sure. But I have a couple of good friends in this camp and if I push them any more it will ruin our friendship, and I'm not prepared to do that.

we all need to accept we will never reach full vaccination.

There are some fairly sad looking signs calling for a snap election in Auckland.

A. It’s not happening. B. Even if you did have a snap election, vaccines will remain on the table.

It's almost like these people have no clue about how elections work.

The first few minutes of One news tonight (6PM) is depressing: Protestors swamping Vaccination sites (in anticipation of a confrontation with the PM).

I quite like Hipkins, he's a bit more blunt with his answers... still controlled but you can see the hear his real thoughts in the words.

While this thread has gone political, the fact is the people involved want the best result. Two ways to go. Lock down AKL to Level 5 and there rest of us to Level4 for God knows how long. Or work towards a compromise of spread vs vaccinated. Or free us all up and go VIC and NSW way, deaths and hospital wise.

It was even worse later on on newshub. Waiting for the article to go live to link it

In areas of BoP with some of the lowest uptake. In the 40-60. Asking people why - most won't get it. I don't see it changing by all the people they interviewed.

yeah, I get the impression he is losing patience with the antivaxxers. I quite enjoy his honesty.

In a way I'm very pleased the antivaxxers are getting aggressive. The more aggressive they get the tougher the responses that are easily vindicated. Very difficult to be hard on peaceful protests.

What responses are those? There are plenty of hesitant who have been sucked in. The anti vaxxers who are the squeaky wheel, forget about them.

I have a colleague who is an anti vaxxer. Every comment is anti. I ask for the link "look it up" He has been vaxxed "for himself" Basically its the same old drama, anti establishment. Moon landing never happened, the Pentagon didn't get hit in 9/11, 9/11 was Bush caused and so on. Climate Change is fake. When I ask for details " read the facts"

He has been vaxxed. But he says he is looking at the facts. End game is its bedded in, but like him I'd like to know if Tamaki has been vaxxed, same deal.

Forget about them.

Apparently Hipkins told Checkpoint that there is an option for Aucklanders to be given an allocated time to leave Auckland over Xmas/New Years to help manage traffic.

However this is so dumb that it seems likely to just be a nest-making excerise to seem the final decision seem more palatable. It cannot possibly be serious.

Also, a hard border because other bits of the country are behind Auckland in vaccinations is a hard sell, ethically speaking.

Especially given how the LOIs for the Auckland outbreak are now non-existent and the virus is just basically being let-rip.

Kind of feel like they're just having that one both ways.

"Other bits of the country" is divisive.

No less divisive than having 30% of your population under lockdown, but not actually doing contact tracing or providing locations of interest for triple-digit case numbers.

Enough noise on the Auckland border staying over Xmas now that they must be considering it. This would be a very stupid move and not practical to enforce.

Are you volunteering to go into lockdown to be inclusive?

That would be ok if it would be correct, IF this was the mindset of most Kiwis. It's not. Its like there are 20 cases of the flu In the Wairarapa, but the headline is flu outbreak in NZ

The deal with Covid is either an opinion or its a fact. Someone needs to stand up and say its fact and non believers are stupid. Anyways, lets all get vaccinated and cast them aside.

How can you contact trace when its evolving so fast? LOI's were mentioned today, too many. Do you want LOI's to be here are the places its not at? Its gone way to far to manage, that's why we have suppression. Some countries gave up on daily case numbers and tracing. Its ALL about vaccinations.
