looking at that you would say great 235K doses 16K a day= 15 days.... WRONG... 14 days later we still have a gap of 117K doses and the average vax rat is now 7K per day... 17 days to go....

Wow that is quite out there. 15 days to go, then with just 1 day left to victory, another 17 to go!

Its not quite as black and white as that, they never got to having just one day to go... :)

The rate bounced around during the period, but on average that number of days increased (as daily second dose vax rates fell faster then the required doses)

Reading between the lines the whole country could be in the traffic light system after the announcement on the 27th Nov.

Regardless of Auckland's DHB's

There is a supplemental akl focus jab day on the weekend for Eden park to try and mop up hesitant rugby fans. Which may skew the pure super-saturday follow up stats. But at least will give a little more insight if it bumps the 1st dose tally off trend

29th Announcement - but the announcement is just the announcement/post cabinet press conference.

Already seen the government happy to announce something that happens in a week time.

So can't assume that'd be the day for sure.

And still not convinced CMDHB will hit 2nd 90% before then either.

The thing is that the person had Covid, so it couldn't be related to getting the vaccine, so not sure why it would even be mentioned by the media. Covid is the illness that has a relatively high risk of killing people, especially if people are older or have a pre existing condition. Not sure why the media is giving so much coverage to antivax stuff

of course it could be related to anything, whether he had covid or not.

it could be - early vaccine reaction, late vaccine related complication

- complication of covid

- something to do with an existing medical condition

- a new medical condition not previously diagnosed

- accidental death

- intentional death by self or other

- it could be anything

as to why media want to know if vaccine related - no idea, it didn't cross my mind but the rest of my list did.

Any event in Eden Park is likely to attract 2nd dosers.... Auckland DHB is 94% first dosed,  there are less than 25K eligible people unvaxxed on the entire isthmus....

All the growth in 1st doses needs to come out of CMDHB, and I doubt people would travel all the way the Eden park for a jab , when there will be plenty of walk-up and drive through capacity in the South this weekend.

Ah yea sorry the 29th then..

I agree, but they can't leave it too much longer than that with Xmas looming large. There will definitely be other areas of NZ that won't be anywhere close by the 29th

Auckland has been locked down and locked in for 2 and a half months.

That is more than enough time for the rest of NZ to have gotten their 2 jabs....and Auckland too for that matter.

But it hasn't happened. And doesn't even look close to happening.

What is wrong with this country?!

We're doing well comparitively and are quite highly vaccinated already. I read today that Germany is only 66% double jabbed and vaccine rates have dropped off massively.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/nov/03/germany-enveloped-in-massive-pandemic-of-the-unvaccinated

We are at about 64% double jabbed, while Denmark was about 74% fully vaccinated when they opened up on 10-Sep. For the Denmark figures just go to Our World in Data, find the vaccination charts and take the slider back to 10-Sep.

For our percentage of population vaccinated, the most accurate figures would be the ones at the MoH vaccination page. For NZ, 90% of eligible double jabbed would probably be about 76% of population, which would put us just slightly ahead of Denmark when they opened up.

For the heckler in Northland asking about Israel, part of the answer can be seen from the same Our World in Data vaccination charts. They aren't highly vaccinated for a Delta world - about 65% double dosed and 71% single dosed.

One other part of the answer can also be found in that Our World in Data page, if you drag the slider back to find when half of that 65% got their first dose, it was in January. I'm not sure how many came back for boosters.

maybe we're not strict enough like NSW.

seems like the keys are - fresh & Pfizer vaccine. keep thinking how come NSW open up and cases dropping whereas other places open up and get exponential rise in cases.

their population are freshly vaccinated, and with the Pfizer jab. and now they're giving Pfizer booster.

I've been following this on Speedcafe

Some clever person wrote this

There once was a boy called David
Who didn't believe in Covid
Without the vaxi
He can't race his taxi
So left his fans frustrated

I honestly wouldn't have thought we'd get to 1 December with a question mark but that seems like a real possibility, seems like it's being left pretty late as it is.

Germany,
Who gave us Homeopathy, Rudolf Steiner's biodynamic farming with some strange ideas on education.

Has hit peak vaccination, now living with SARS-Cov2 becomes very difficult at that rate.
Sensible people there would rather be Denmark but too many are not listening.

Germany enveloped in ‘massive’ pandemic of the unvaccinated
Health minister says wave ‘far from over’ as vaccination rate flatlines and clinics report rising numbers of Covid-19 patients
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/nov/03/germany-enveloped-in-massive-pandemic-of-the-unvaccinated

""
The percentage of the German population fully vaccinated against Covid-19 has in effect flatlined for the last month at 66%, a lower rate than in other western European states such as France, Italy, Spain and the UK.

Isn't that is like saying any death in NZ could possibly be a late covid vax reaction until it is investigated. I think it is just feeding the anti-vaxers. I am just wondering why the media are questioning it in the first place.
