What a surprise, Destiny Church was involved. Can someone please explain to me any good stuff they do? All the headlines I've ever seen about them are (overwhelmingly) negative.

They employ a few mentally ill people.

as their leaders

MileHighKiwi: I've seen nothing official on the fatal crash in Levin yesterday but understand it was 4 teachers who had been to the protests and were returning home.

Update: on the Herald now. 3 staff from Devon Intermediate in New Plymouth. The school caretaker, a teacher aide and a teacher.

Very sad tragedy. My thoughts go to the family and the school community.

Sorry - but that is taking advantage of those people who may have limited mental capacity.

Which is typical of these sorts of 'cults' ❗️

In the Prime Ministers stand up today with the pacific community, what as the last question from Media that was dodged before the questions were shut down?
I can't find any reference to it in the stuff comments.

Did anyone catch it?

Last couple of days case numbers have been fairly kind to the model I am tracking. Of course, need another week or so to verify the trend.

In terms of today's announcement:

The number of people who have died in isolation is getting kinda worrying. Do people just go downhill super fast? or not notice that their situation is degrading.

Schools going back - times to come after the vaccine mandate.

Astrazeneca is going to start being offered in very limited locations in NZ. Only to the following groups:

  • Those medically unable to have pfizer.
  • Those working in a role impacted by vaccine mandate's, who are unwilling to have pfizer, but are willing to have Astrazeneca. - But will require some kind of consultation to discuss the relative merits of the vaccienes. (director general of health stated that AZ was less effective against delta, and also has well publicised rare side effects).

Will be interesting to see how the latter point goes down. Education & Healthcare mandates kick in on the 16th, but AZ won't be available untill the end of the month.

Suspect for some that getting an alternate brand could be a face saving [for the person] thing as much as anything. Some people have a lot of their identity tied up in being Anti pfizer covid-19 vaccination.

from stuff

Government introduces second vaccine - AstraZeneca - for small group of people

The Government will roll out the AstraZeneca vaccine for a small group of people, while keeping the vaccine programme mostly focused on Pfizer.

The AstraZeneca vaccine will be available from late November for those aged 18 or over who are medically unable to get the Pfizer vaccine - a group the Ministry of Health believes to be as small as 100 or 200 people.

It will also be available for those who prefer not to have a vaccine using mRNA technology, if their job requires them to have the vaccine.

2 things

1. people have been shown to not notice that their oxygen levels are extremely low when getting covid. only an oximeter would tell them that. which is why in southern DHB the DHB have bought oximeters for those in home isolation. i have no idea if Auckland isolation are given oximeters

2. yes people can go from ok to very low oxygen in a matter of hours.

which is why i say it's not safe to isolate alone. unless you have an oximeter that is wirelessly linked to an app that will alert a health professional.

Now that AZ is being made available, the employment processes need to start for anyone who indicates that they will still not be getting a vaccine.

That cannot just be extended paid leave, nor should public organisations be giving their employees any special treatment in this regard.

Hopefully this is not a reset the clock exercise.

However given the plan for 'consultation' , which takes time,  I can see this fitting the delay and deflect crowd.

Which then becomes , I wanna the next unavailable unapproved vaccine, until I want the next one.

Time will tell.

The days between the announcement of the alert level and the level 4 lockdown (and the weeks that followed it) were some the bleakest in my professional career.

I have zero sympathy if public organisations are going to dawdle and indulge anti-vaxxers with a long drawn out consultation process if they are stood down on full pay for the duration.

It was to do with whether there had been a warnings, threats of voilence etc. from the security services relating to the recent protests.

As awful as it sounds, I think coronavirus would have had had a much tougher time of gaining a foothold if it had been around in the 80s or even the 90s.

Would a vaccine have been made as quickly in the 80’s, 90’s.?

Know the technology has been around for long time, but when it was ready to use not sure.
