Sup:
... Interestingly there is a suggestion that people who have had previous infection, are more at risk of a repeat infection....than people who have never had Covid.
...
Not surprising given that there is zero risk of a repeat infection in people who never had Covid.
Sorry, couldn't resist ... 😉

Batman:umm English - so is vaccine good or no good vs Omicron?
I read somewhere (I think the BBC) that apparently it will take them 2-4 weeks to see if the vaccine is effective against Omnicron (or whatever this one is called).

Unclear.
It will be interesting to see the difference between vaccines. Most western vaccines solely rely on the spike protein which has undergone a lot of mutations. Whereas, the old school Chinese vaccine relies on the entire deactivated virus (about 22 proteins IIRC) so will have a wider variety of antibodies to fight Omicron.
The Chinese vaccine looks superior to me, if it’s providing the whole virus for immune system to see. Especially for a rapidly mutating one. Guess it is slower to manufacture though.
I agree it will interesting though once they get the effectiveness results of different ones to see if it does make a difference, just logically I’d expect the Chinese one to do better.

Hard to know, it was about half as good as the mRNA ones for the 2020 strains. What you're postulating is just a guess
Yes, need to get the results back. I didn’t know it was only as half effective as the mRNA for the 2020 strains.
It appears that overnight the MoH Locations of Interest web site has been overhauled and you can now drill down using filters to narrow your LoI.
It also gives you a 'Risk Level" status per LoI site.
This new update is far easier to use IMO.
Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.
Has anybody seen or heard of any malls enforcing vaccine passes for entry?
I assumed some would because it would be a lot easier than those retailers who are required to have them needing to check, as well as for their food courts.
sbiddle:The problem with that would be the malls with supermarkets and chemists in, you cant stop people visiting those places even if unvaccinated.

Common sense is not as common as you think.
