Also try to get your hands on some real masks...

The stuff coming out the US seems to indicate that the lovely reusable hippy fabric things are about a useful as a screen door on a submarine, (although better than nothing)

But in a Omicron Environment you really should be aiming for N95 (or equivalent) as a gold standard for busy internal spaces,

Blue medical is 2nd best....but fabric is well down

Anyone have recommendations for N95 masks?

I tried some from chemist warehouse but the straps connect at the back of the head with a plastic hook and sucked to use.  I've ordered 40 masks from St Johns and will see how they go (if they are not great i just consider it a donation).  I had a meo mask but it just didn't fit either of us well.

What are people using that is working well?

I've been told many times that I look a lot more attractive in my Darth Vader mask.

3M Aura masks.

N95 and they don't sit on your mouth because they have a 3D shape.

There is no limit to stupidity. "Let's not take the vaccine and try to be safe. Instead, let's pay infected people to have dinner with us and pass on the virus so we can be immunised."

These people are extremists. Bio terrorists. Such wilful acts are why you cannot trust people to do the right thing when people have been brain washed.

These people are ensuring that  authoritarian, dictatorial Govt comes into being and the rest of us get to live with the consequences of life in a dystopian reality.

You can see why, if Covid does not settle into a live able outcome, that mandates for all are the inevitable future.

On a better note, the numbers of first vaccines in this country have been really encouraging, they have been sitting around a rate that would see our unvaccinated adult numbers halved in three months from now....obviously this would be if people keep coming forward at the current rate.

I would love a survey, of why these people have changed their minds. It seems to have happened roughly in line with the emergence of omicron.

If that is true, why Omicron and not Delta? perhaps it relates to the fact that New Zealanders have so many contacts personally in Australia....surely soon everyone will know someone with omicron?

Or is it to do with the vaccine passports? are people tiring of missing out?

Second that. Wearing those at work and find them the most comfortable as far as N95 or P2 go.

The panic is on in WA. With things exploding everyone had been given until jan 31 to get 2, or their booster and use proof to get into social settings and bars, gym etc. Where we got warning, they are sort of emulating with 3 weeks notice

And all the fence sitters, not done are coming to light.

It is defo the bottle shops.

All jokes aside, I have no problem with fear being used to motivate people to get vaccinated, some people should be afraid, fear is part of what makes us human and is a powerful motivator....and well.....it is normal...being scared sometimes during pandemics is healthy and normal.

Indeed, and as of today only FFP2 / N95 masks are allowed in public transportation here in GER because of Omicron which is now approaching 95% of all new infections here. Normal medical masks are no longer sufficient.

Is there any where to purchase these in NZ or does one have to order these in from overseas?

Just ordered some online. Yes, there are some places. I've found some with "N95* masks" the * fineprint was "tested by a compliant laboratory in China but one of the requirements is to have "N95" markings, which this mask doesn't have.

You either buy 3M or buy something with full regulatory approval. Anything else is "maybe".
