Oblivian: The akl lone star owners have stepped down (pushed by franchise?)
But are not going quietly. Story not headliner but on herald.
Same with Wellington's Prefab. Apparently posted a "beached as" image on Instagram regarding the use of masks, quickly taken down - saw the image somewhere but can't find now.

I listen to a bit of talkback radio (radio is a Japanese model, so very few stations available) while driving. But last night when driving back home the hosted was asking people to call and talk about good things.
Woman called to say something "nice". The host let her start. She had information that a certain vitamin was a great covid prevention miracle. The evidence is that there is less covid and flu during summer when people are outside under the sun. Yes, ignore the fact in summer people aren't huddling in a small confined area.
Anyway, the host was fed up. He ripped one. He said she was giving false information. He asked for good things - like neighbours offering to deliver food and supplies to help anyone who needed in case of quarantine. Instead, he said, she came with a "trojan horse", calling under the pretence then going on with falsehoods.
She was "Oh, I'm sorry" but after a couple of minutes, she started being annoying again. So he ripped another one. This time she just went quiet and hung up on him.
Then another idiot called to say the government keeps changing the orders. The host said "Yeah, because we learn more every day" but the idiot was having none of that and start going on the "communists".
JFC. People really are stupid. The radio host had a huge patience to not just call these idiots "idiots".

Also, posting this image as an example of the lies and falsehoods spread in America - and that probably influence some people here.
The image below in no way reflect reality. Vaccines are safe and the best defence we have. It just shows these people are monsters.

vexxxboy:
sounds like they have his mailing list
Since they will know the QR code that they have used one these fakes, they should update the scanner app to alert the user of this in a clandestine way like a SMS sound playing or something and get these people using them charged with using a false document. I dont see why it should be hard to make a case about someone who has firstly bought the fake QR code from someone, and then goes into a cafe/bar to use it to try to get a service they are not entitled to.

Was this ZB? Also, you can get a band expander to help get the rest of the FM band :)
As to the Tucker Carlson video, he is a monster, you're right - his guest was even worse! (as per Wikipedia):
In May 2020, Fox News announced that Berenson would host a TV show called COVID Contrarian on its online streaming platform Fox Nation. However, by July 2020, amid surges in coronavirus cases across parts of the United States, Fox News appeared to have backtracked and removed the announcement of his show from its website.
Thank God for that, I think Fox dodged a bullet not giving that guy a show. Love the Twitter caption at the bottom that it's misleading too 👍

Never forget the fact that 50% of people are by definition of below average intelligence...!

Or he could listen to something that's not full of ads and idiots. With the rock moving to the worst FM freq there is that conflicts with the edge on band expanders and has the signal level of an itrip transmitter around most of auckland, the best that you could get off FM is now gone without good luck and a new head deck, or else bluetoothing it off your phone instead.
I think that talkback has a lot to answer for with giving these idiots airtime even with them shutting them down.
richms:
... With the rock moving to the worst FM freq there is that conflicts with the edge on band expanders ...
Band expanders come in 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20 MHz shifts.
Pick the one that shifts the stations you want to listen to into clear spots in the band:
Write down the frequencies of the stations you want to listen to.
For each, subtract one of the shifts and write down the result.
Check that none of the results match the frequency of any other station in your area.
If there's a clash, repeat with a different shift.
Bonus points if you write a spreadsheet to do it...
... We now return you to our regularly scheduled programme.

So if the modellers predictions turn out to be true (50-80k cases per day) and following the isolation rules, how is the country / economy expected to operate?
A confirmed infection isolates for 14 days, close/household contacts for a further 10, but, the clock resets with each new infection, so potentially quite a few weeks isolating. All well and good for the portion of the economy that can work from home, but what about those that can't, that rely on income on a week to week basis. Are people really going to get tested and isolate?
50000 cases a day even for 2 weeks (which would be in line with the initial isolation period) is still 700,000 people isolating (who are infected) plus their household contacts (which even if each infected person on average had only 1/2 a contact, thats still another 350,000) and that doesn't count all those leading up to those numbers and beyond.
I can see many being off work for a few days "with a cold" and then resuming life. Is that the right thing to do? Probably not.
Phase 2 and 3 start to reduce the amount of time of isolation and also the extend of the contacts... essentially it moves more in line to what you've seen in the UK and Aus more recently.
im not surprised by the headline but i am surprised by the woman who said '
“’I’m not concerned as it needs to run its course, we will all eventually catch Covid just like any other virus.
“My son and I both have autoimmune conditions, so we will get very sick. But, hey. It is what it is.”
so maybe dying "is what it is". Some people.
Common sense is not as common as you think.

NSW hit 90k cases once, 62k once and the rest was under 50k. They have more people in the state (8.1m) and more people closely packed in Sydney (5.3m), less restrictions, lower vaccination rates at the start of them omicron wave.
Those numbers must be absolute worst case numbers. or the modelers are smoking something good.
Our more spaced out population should help a bit with case numbers.
