Oblivian: Lapsed when I mentioned it a few days/pages back. It was buried under national news rather than OMG CLICK ME banner we usually expect

https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/covid-19-omicron-owners-of-auckland-lone-star-restaurant-step-down-after-refusing-vaccination-mandates/BGF7JGRWDWBVAZSY4NRBAZ6AUQ/

Good riddance to bad rubbish. I have zero sympathy for Stephanie Cowie and Brendan Pascoe and I'm please Lone Star have finally terminated their franchise.

Watch the YouTube video of her making her sob-story/statement (if you can find it). She hasn't got her facts straight (none of the anti-tax crowd ever have their facts straight). She claims the vaccine increases transmission (no); that unemployment is up (no); that the government has lost touch with reality (maybe look in the mirror); that there were mass suicides in November (this would be headline news); medical doctors, the vaccine-injured and the vaccine-hesitant are being silenced (prove it);

She goes on to say "We are a nation that cares about each other..." - yes, and being vaccinated is part of caring for each other. She also says "why isn't mainstream media talking about any of this?" - because all those articles and news segments don't count apparently. She claims "We have so much love and respect for our team..." but not enough love or respect to do the right thing?

She complaints that "We are losing our business, our home, along with our incredible loyal staff..." and all I can say is actions have consequences. You played a game of muck around and find out and are now in the find out phase.

She then ends with her smoking gun "The Covid Response is an overreach and its impact is killing more people than it is saving." which is totally untrue and patently ridiculous.

WorkSafe and mbie have certainly been on the case this week

'my barber' was also featured as being stung twice and claiming harassment by mbie workers. But still defying so that they don't turn away customers who have gone down the 'my body my choice' road

Liz Gunn uses the same line as well - maybe they're not talking about it because, well, you're promoting misinformation??? Just a thought 🤦‍♂️

Eva888: I am convinced airplanes are the spreader culprit. Look at how many fly here and test with Covid even though they have been preflight tested, vaxxed, boosted and masked.

Yet One news broadcast a big fancy infographic using their digital overly system reassuring the country last night that It's safe and this is why...

:P

Given our local examples. I'd be putting it down to final goodbyes. They all had their tests as they got to the destination for short stays to prevent return delays. Still 3 days left to see infection. Funeral/Catch-up/see fam/hugs/goodbye family.

3-5 days after event. Oh look, positive.

Yeah this seemed quite odd, and said how much safer it was in a plane than in an office. Made me wonder why they aren't conducting schools in planes?

Press release

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has been deemed a close contact of a positive COVID-19 case, and has entered self-isolation in line with Ministry of Health advice.

The exposure event took place on Saturday 22 January during flight NZ8273 from Kerikeri to Auckland. Flight NZ8273 has been added to the Ministry of Health website as a location of interest this evening.

Whole genome sequencing for the case has been requested with an expected result on Sunday. The result is expected to indicate that the case has been infected with the Omicron variant and the public health response reflects this.

All other passengers on board NZ8273 are also deemed close contacts and are required to self-isolate, get tested immediately and remain in isolation for 10 days following their exposure.

They will also need to follow further isolation and testing requirements provided by public health officials. They can record their exposure online or call Healthline on 0800 358 5453 so contact tracers can get in touch.

People who have been in contact with close contacts are not required to take any action.

The Prime Minister is asymptomatic and is feeling well. In line with Ministry of Health advice she will be tested immediately tomorrow and will isolate until Tuesday.

The Governor-General and members of her staff were also on board and are following the same isolation instructions.

The Prime Minister and Governor-General were in Northland undertaking advance filming at the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, at the invitation of the Waitangi National Trust for the Waitangi Day broadcast.

I am struggling to find the point in contact tracing at the moment:

Flight NZ8273 Kerikeri to Auckland Auckland

Saturday 22 January

12:15 pm - 1:00 pm

Published 9 pm yesterday. That's the one the PM and GG were on:

https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/health/coronavirus/300506794/pm-jacinda-ardern-selfisolating-after-being-confirmed-as-covid19-close-contact-is-asymptomatic-and-feeling-well

It's a week after the event before the case was identified which led to the notification. Numerous other flights have flagged as well.  So the close contacts have had a week going about their daily business unsuspecting. Given the numbers of LOI and the magnitude of exposure (such as Soundsplash, multiple flights, ferries, buses, hotels) should we just redeploy the contact tracers into another role and get on with it?

How big is the plane that flies to Kerikeri? I've never flown there. Is it a fairly big one, or one of those little pencil planes? Hopefully there weren't hundreds of people on the flight.

Why on earth were they flying on Air NZ?
They should have been flying on an RNZAF KA350 King Air or an RNZAF NH90 helicopter

Because of "oh we can't have the PM being seen swanning around in an Air Force VIP flight" nonsense, we have both PM & GG exposed to Covid

And if either of them is Covid-positive as a result, probably a Super Spreader event

I thought we've been told that everybody is going to get covid. it's not if, it's when

when i get it, i am thinking everybody in the house should get it at the same time. i am not sure about one catching it every 2 weeks and ending up isolating for 3 months.

we've waited 2 years and 3 shots to fight his mo#$%^&^^ and it will be ok, i've made my peace with everything in the multiverse in this time and have 3 holes in my skin to show for it

I see there is some question over the validity of Djokovic's test certificates showing that he had tested positive for covid so should be allowed into Aus. The serial number of the later test where he is positive is lower than the serial number of the earlier test which is negative. If the tests were switched around he would have been ineligible. Examining similar test serial numbers from Serbia his is the only case found where this happened.

The tests were carried out by the Serbian Insitute of Health (which is probably run from his brother's bedroom). They have not responded to requests for clarification from the BBC.

That guy is a disgrace to sport. If I was lucky enough to be a world class tennis player I would refuse to play him.

Suddenly it feels Covid is very much here in Wellington. We have escaped unscathed for quite a while and lulled into complacency. I was rather surprised to find I was at a LOI on Monday and it’s only then that the reality hits home.

It also struck me when standing at a checkout how little we value those poor workers who are on minimum wage and working long hours under a constant mask. So I made a comment to the woman who was late 50s and told her she was a real hero doing this and how hard it must be wearing a mask for hours. Her eyes welled up and she thanked me.

She told me that mostly they get abused by customers and no one has ever said that to her before. Well...smoke got in my eyes too. It was really sad. I now make it a point of thanking and commenting to as many of the packers or workers in the supermarkets. I tell them that they are our heroes and without them we would all be lost and without food and how appreciated they are. It’s easy to forget there are real people with feelings behind those masks.

I hope this reminds everyone to give these essential people some kudos and thanks to help make up for all the nasty customers that abuse them.

Frankly, I’d like to see checkout assistants able to refuse service to such people and buzz security to throw them out with a trespass order so they can’t shop there again for 3 months. It might wake up some of those entitled customers.

I would quite like to see Foodstuffs and Countdown set up a shared trespass register for abusive customers. These mongrels will learn pretty quickly when they are denied access to food, but I guess it'll never happen because it's not politically correct.

Obviously there are limits to what can be done, but you can go a long way with some imagination. Stores already have shoplifting cameras. Maybe a camera at checkout pointed on customers would help. Maybe posting pictures of abusers with a big banner asking them to please be nicer would make a difference. Maybe introducing an abuse surcharge to pay for comforting services would make some think. Be nice or you get 10% tacked on to your bill. If you don't like it, shop somewhere else.

The locations of interest list is getting ridiculous.

The MOH would save a lot of time and trouble by just posting the following

Location of Interest - New Zealand
