If the reports are true, Trevor Mallard has hired outdoor speakers and has put the Makarena on loop with COVID ads in between.

Oblivian: Legislation was changed to accommodate

Employees are entitled to reasonable paid time away from work during their normal working hours to receive a dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, including a vaccine booster, as long as providing the time off does not unreasonably disrupt: their employer's business; or. the employee's performance of their employment duties.

I have an employer and I was not aware of this. Like a lot of legislation I assume there is no obligation for an employer to inform employees about it.

Edit: Perhaps this applies only to mandated workplaces and positions. Mine is not.

Covid outbreak of 13 at Auckland City Hospital
https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/461398/covid-outbreak-of-13-at-auckland-city-hospital

""
As at 6pm Saturday 12 February, we've identified that five staff members and seven patients from the Awatea Ward and one staff member from the Marino Ward have tested positive for Covid-19. The source of transmission and index case is under investigation."

"We're grateful that our staff member took prompt action and was tested when they became symptomatic.
""

Older peoples wards.  Its not that easy to protect vulnerable in a hospital as so many are, old or young.

Every ward is not up to the infection control standard for something like this, and can't be.
Its not so easy to say that omicron infected will only be in the limited locations with that isolation.

Then we have decades of underspending. You are lucky of you don't have dangerous mold or sewage in the walls.

nzkiwiman:

Dunedin has a single case, along with two in Queenstown.

Now to wait 5-7 days for locations of interest to show up.

Somehow it went from 3 to 13 during the weekend announcements.

No idea where the extra cases have come from in the SDHB region and still no locations of interest outside of a few in Central Otago over Waitangi weekend

Moana pasifika rugby team

I was wondering how they would count them. Presumably it's now reflecting their 7 (or was it 11) cases

Essentially a small bubble that's kept to themselves.

Cases popping up in Horowhenua, as to why no places of interest are being reported MidCentral DHB say:

"as cases of Omicron increase across the country, the advice for casual-contacts now applies to us all.
We should all be acting like we could have been unknowingly exposed to COVID-19; monitoring for symptoms and seeking out a test if we do experience any COVID-19 symptoms, no matter how mild.
Given this, the national guidance is that we will no longer publicly identify locations of interest that have been classed as casual, these are locations where there is considered to be low-risk of the person with COVID-19 unknowingly infecting others, e.g. supermarket trips.
We will continue to report any high-risk locations of interest where we need people to self-identify as a close-contact.
We understand that moving to living with COVID-19 is a worrying time for many of us, and we know the anxiety that comes from each new positive case in the community. We are committed to publishing any of these high-risk locations as soon as we are made aware of them.
As a reminder, the vast majority of close-contacts are people who our contact tracers can easily identify and contact (i.e workmates, friends, family) and we do not need to add these to the Locations of Interest page on the Ministry website"

One would think supermarkets would be listed seeing as most of the town go there.... Looks like a case of tough luck, you're on your own now.

Are these still low-risk with Omicron, which is more infectious than Delta? Auckland basically gets no LOIs listed even though we have more cases than we did during Delta, but this is more infectious.

It really is just 'fend for yourself, hope you've still got sick leave!' at this point isn't it.

Correct.

It is no longer a concern of coming in contact with it. It's a concern how much it's going to impact the rest of your family, and those you have passed it to who are needed to not go to work, school.

And for small family owned businesses. That shuts them down. Totally.

Which is why its dumbfounding people (takeaway owners) are giving masks and enforcement nothing but lip service only.

Or they're just going to pass the parcel and don't give a hoot about anyone else and ignore the self iso.

Again, people are going to screw others livelihood up. Reality hasn't hit yet.

So why are they still pushing scanning in to supermarkets to "keep everybody safe" if they are just going to ignore it? No wonder so many people are losing faith in the government's response to the outbreak.

Southern cases are all q'town linked, one in Gore, One in Dunedin, one in Invercargill, the 7ish that is the super rugby bubble, and a couple of extra in in Qtown that flew back North.

Plus any today....
