Just speaking with a friend whose grandson 12 in Auckland developed myocarditis after the vaccine and is being treated. I remember him being plump. First time I’ve come across a vaccine problem among my peers and their families and it’s rather sobering.

RATs are only going to be to protect the venerable and frontline or high visibility roles.

Or anyone that thinks they self qualify and actually get their hands on them

Phase 2 is about that. Protect the hospital and venerable.

For the rest, The short sharp reality that large businesses and schools are going to be severely impacted by masses of workforce being told to stay home is going to start revealing it's head now.

Who decides who is venerable though?  Different people are going to hold different groups in veneration - either because of religion or reputation

Not necessarily. RATs are going to be important to protect all supply chains. We've estimated that under Phase 1 we could have been facing up to 30% absenteeism in our workforce as contacts were required to isolate. Under phase 2 and specifically the close contact exemption scheme, vaccinated & asymptomatic contacts could continue to work with a -ve RAT test prior to each shift. That is going to be huge in ensuring that we are able to keep products on shelves.

It was still phase one when I did that :P

I now see 2 will change it slightly so jabbed close contacts can continue.

But good luck policing the unjabbed to stay home.

Looks like businesses apply to be classified as essential/exempt. Or they'll throw hands up and let them decide if it gets too hard like early levels.

I also can't spell vulnerable :)

Yeah, but about 20% of the total population is unvaxxed, which is about a million. The virus doesn't know who is eligible or not, it will infect anyone.

According to Prof Baker, the numbers today are probably closer to 10k than 1k. Looks like it is pretty much uncontrolled now, and schools seems to be where a lot of spread is occurring, which is an obvious place. IMO they should be vaccinating in schools, like they do with other vaccinations.  RAT testing is going to be needed to keep up with the testing required.

IIRC 5 to 11 can be vaccinated?

Why do we need RAT testing? And how accurate is it?

Uncontrolled, thats correct, but it cannot be controlled, so saying its uncontrolled is a misnomer. As if it can be controlled, but it isnt?

My antivax and anti everything mate says he has that as does his Mum. I can speak for him as he is anti everything, but what are the odds?

As my anti vax and anti mandate and anti everything mates says, its about freedom. So you are free to catch it, no bias anywhere... He told me, the old and fat need to get jabbed and stay home, (so he can can do what he wants) yes, this relationship  strained. Maybe i need a trial period on conspiracy.com?

Yes. Was response to Matt (seemed to be holding onto hope we were planning on keeping ahead of it)

Keeping ahead of it would be great. But many dont like lockdowns. And many political types said in April 2020 its too much and its too long. Heaven forbid.  So we cannot. Its milder, so if we are vaxxed and boosted thats pretty much all we can do. I just had a family member asking why do we allow the border to come in? I said if we are getting 5000 per day (which we probably are) then its no issue.

Get vaxxed and boosted that reduces hospital care by 99% that's all we can do

Our close friend and his wife are both vaxxed, (as am I for the record). They were extremely upset and would hardly lie to us about their prized grandson developing myocarditis.

A sincere and valid report of a negative effect need not be scoffed at as antivaxx rubbish. The issue is both sad and real...Yes, what are the odds? Very few, but when it’s your child or relative it’s no longer just a statistic.

I don't think that's that tdgeek was getting at. These are well known side-effects, potentially serious, but often benign and self-limiting. Obviously, when it happens to someone you know, it's concerning.

I think they just meant (and I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong) that of course the antivax mate got one of the side effects. And even in that unlikely case, even worse this mother got it too! What are the chances of that? Sometimes things stretch credulity (although not, I dare say, in your friend's case).

Bummer.

Potentially its better to have discovered this vulnerability / negative effect with a controlled load of the spike protein from the vaccine rather than from a high viral load from the actual virus, so maybe a blessing in disguise.

Yep, get one jab and anything after that is blamed on the jab.

  • What are myocarditis and pericarditis? Can it occur after Pfizer (Comirnaty) vaccination? An increased risk of heart inflammation (myocarditis, pericarditis, or both) has been observed in people who have received mRNA COVID-19 vaccines in overseas studies, particularly in males under 30 years of age after the second vaccine dose.

So, he is early 40's, his Mum is probably not male and probably over 30... And my mate has had one jab as he wont get any more due to what it did to him

Basically latch onto anything.
