Great plan, but tell all the employers that. Mine has only just decided to "trial" letting staff who work in administrative roles for an organisation with widespread remote access capability work from home. Three days a week. If you ask me, it's abusive to treat minimising exposure to a potentially deadly pathogen as a "trial". It's not a trial, it's a public health measure - and it needs to be legislated, last month.

The thing is that some of those were likely houses that were taken out of our normal housing stock, for accommodating tourists. So potentially they could help to solve NZs housing crisis if they are all used to house NZers who need housing.

The problem is that we let our house prices get so far out of control, that an event like this that has knock on effects. If people are forced to sell their air BNB and can't rent it out, and they need incoming money from it to cover mortgage payments, they may have to sell, and not sure if there will be many buyers at this time.

Wife just said that too. We want to reduce the times we go there, so a limit would make us go more often. We dont do a regular shop, I pop in once a week for bits and bibs, she does randomly as well. Want to reduce that. She just said the last time she went which was a cough cough mini panic buy :-( there were frequent coughing. No doubt "just" a cough, but you never know.

Hence why I think some peoples shop has been bigger than normal. But the Foodstuffs rep at the MOH meeting said that there weren't that many people panic buying, mainly the problem was caused by people stocking up. Whereas they want people to buy as normal.

The US failure in testing, not being ready, probably deliberately hiding Covid-19 related cases and even deaths - they're a major exporter of this disease. And it is undeniably mainly Trump's fault. This shows origin of "imported" cases into Australia:

Just had a good Facebook post read out me (I don’t do Facebook).

It suggested that there be no limit on the number of condoms people can buy because the type of people panic buying should be prevented from breeding.

Atleast 3 infected from cruise chip Ruby Princess in Sydney, iirc docked in napier and wellington before cruise ban was announced.

Not sure on the timeline, one would think they would have been symptomatic in NZ if they were infected in Sydney to start with as it takes ~4-5 days to get here.

The average time to show symptoms is ~5 days, anyone infected might only start showing around now. With anyluck they were feeling unwell and didn't get off.

Meanwhile Christchurch keep Rec and Sport facilities open with some restrictions. Sports stadiums limited to 100 people as are pools & keep 1 metre distances. Spas and Saunas closed. Yeah, well good luck at keeping one metre distance in the pool changing rooms and showers. Those changing rooms are busy most of the day & if there is a wet weekend they are packed. If I read it correctly that is 100 per pool not each facility. Phil Goff and Auckland Council get it right this time. CCC= Donkeys.
