There also the safety issue that if the people are selected by the family or preasures into giving they might feel preasure to be seen to be donating greater than answering screening questions truthfully.

We have seen multiple cases of vertuous people saying one thing but doing something else. Look at all those homophobic gray politicians.

If your partners volunteers you are you going to mention the same unprotected sex you had last year with affair etc. Are you really going to tell truth and have your partner react or if tell truth to blood donor service and have partner asky why you don't have needle stick wound.

This issue is well known enough that there are policies with organ donors. Ie the doctors when told the truth will "lie" to family that uncle Jim (who is secretly Hiv positive) being the wrong tissue type.

The work involved with grating a specific screened pool of blood is significant and blood service won't do it without medical reason.

Source. Had people say one thing to me when partners present and another when they are not. Have engineered situation to get partner to go get coffee while we do some examinations and then ask the questions we suspect

This is where the whole 'you have to respect people's beliefs' thing winds me up. I don't have to 'respect' them. They're free to have them, but if they're insane, I'm free to ridicule them for them.

People often seem to conflate the concept of 'respecting' beliefs with the idea that they should be above scrutiny.

Except that covid is mutating way faster than colds and the flu and is reinfecting people over and over due to this

the important thing is, is the death rate going up or down

https://www.theguardian.com/science/2022/dec/01/brains-of-post-pandemic-teens-show-signs-of-faster-ageing-study-finds

for me the less i worry about things i can't control, the less anxiety i rub off onto my kids, the better for everyone. i just behave normal so my kids feel normal and everybody around us are living their daily lives without fear or anxiety. i don't see the point of worrying, we're all going to die of something, i've made my peace. had a relative who recently died from liver failure out of the blue. he was a model citizen - didn't drink didn't smoke exercise everyday, and ate only veges - truckloads of plants. we narrowed it down to possibly pesticides on the plants but nobody can tell us the cause, no viruses found, nothing. another friend had a heart attack last week and still in coma (hasn't woken up).

Good table to keep up-to-date: Estimated cumulative excess deaths during COVID (ourworldindata.org)

If you scroll the table to the right you will see confirmed covid deaths.

https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/health/300753914/baby-blood-case-parents-accept-that-some-blood-products-from-vaccinated-donors-may-have-to-be-used

Oh gee, now these so-called "parents" and their so-called "lawyer" admit that they may have to accept some vaccinated blood after all.

But still, Sue Grey and Liz Gunn know everything about heart surgery and blood. Why aren't they doctors then, instead of trying to be lawyers or posting conspiracy videos online, asking for that constant grift?

There seems to be a great future for Poop and Wees, well testing it anyway.

The correlation in proportion to cases is pretty amazing
Even variants.

This almost makes me angrier.

If you're going to delay essential surgery for your kids so you can get the ego boost of having your insane views accommodated by serious medical professionals, at least have the courage to stick to your convictions. I mean if you are going to risk the kid's health in the first place, you might as well see it through.

Was driving earlier today and some nuts called in to comment about the Royal commission. One was saying it is a cover up, the government was running a scare tactics programme, the first cruise ship in Wellington was used to scare people about covid, he didn't worry about getting sick, should not have closed airports, etc.

Then a woman came in, coughing like crazy - the irony was not lost on the radio host - saying that she is a nurse, the vaccine is not to prevent people getting covid but it is in fact a inoculation with a virus to make people sick so the government can control them.

At that point the host cut her call.

That is kind of interesting I expected that the waste water testing would be showing a big rise in line with cases increasing.

Anti-vax mob needs to be dealt with

Sue Grey should be disbarred, I am sure she will be feeding the scared vulnerable parents with conspiracy BS.

The child has already had one transfusion....

And I am equally sure the anti-vax mob will celebrate if the child dies because they can then blame the health system for the delays and how the parents we being so reasonable

and its all the governments fault.... etc etc etc.

What pissed me off more was the guy who said it's all a cover-up but when asked if the result of the enquiry would change the way he votes, he replied "I don't vote anyway"

So why are you talking shit, you idiot?

Christmas behind bars: Family of jailed Kaikōura cafe owner ‘in shock’ after ‘crazy’ prison sentence over council compliance - NZ Herald

Doughty said Rayner had “previously complied with food safety regulations”.

However, in 2021 she requested that her valid food registration be withdrawn.

“She then continued to sell food to the public without food registration measures in place at her cafe Bean Me Up, and has continued to do so right until the day of sentencing,” said Doughty.

Failed to mention this is the same person as Covid-19: Kaikōura cafe owner who showed fake QR code linking to anti-mandate page prosecuted by WorkSafe | Stuff.co.nz

A Kaikōura cafe owner who displayed a fake QR code linked to anti-Covid-19 mandate messaging has been prosecuted by WorkSafe for not displaying a QR code.
