Doing a bigger shop than normal to limit the number of times going to the super market I think is the logic some people have been following. Hence why I think some peoples shop has been bigger than normal. But the Foodstuffs rep at the MOH meeting said that there weren't that many people panic buying, mainly the problem was caused by people stocking up. Whereas they want people to buy as normal.
But I always stock up. That is how I have always done my shopping. I don't live around the corner from the shops. I am rural and like other rural people, I do all my shopping once every other week or so.

How to rat out someone not following self-isolation rules: email nhccselfisolation@health.govt.nz
From Hansard:
Hon STUART NASH: Police advise me that if a member of the public suspects a breach of the self-isolation rules, they can email. I would like all the members to note this down and send it out on their social media or other platforms. This is the email address: . That's "nhccselfisolation"—one word—"@health.govt.nz". They can include details or screenshots from social media as appropriate.
People in self-isolation should be forced to wear those security bracelets that you get when entering festival. Those floro, anti-tamper things that allows you to get booze.
Easy enough to get printed up. Easy enough to get people to put on during custom clearance at airports. Easy enough to be removed approved places and get passport stamped to prove it. Easy enough to fine people who have removed the bracelets themselves. And most import of all, easy enough for every one else to identify who is supposed to be in self isolation.

Yeah we've had 31 reported recoveries here in the UAE. People mostly come out the other side if they get good medical care.
Yes. It was a severe case affecting a doctor at his own university hospital - you can bet, his collegues did everything possible. Hopefully they'll have the chance to use the knowledge for the others to come.

loceff13:afe66: And yet during WW2 they had rationing and everyone was fine, strangely they didnt have the childhood/teenage obesity problems.
Therefore maybe we eat too much...
A classic wants vrs needs problem.
Around the same amount of people died from starvation as military deaths during WW2. Some was intentional(ie Germanys Hunger Plan) but most not.

Once things settle down most restrictions will probably get eased. Here there was some panic buying early this week. The shelves got restocked the next day and it's eased off.
I'd suggest making contact with the manager/owner and see if they can help you.
Unfortunately there will be much more disruption to everyones daily lives.
afe66:
True but I was referring to uk nz rationing not rationing by occupying force with lesser car of duty.
We could all survive on a less food than we consume.
True. We could drastically cut the quantity and improve the quality. However our meat prices have been getting higher and higher and we have not quite figured out how to balance exporting premium meats while making sure it is affordable at home.

Just had a good Facebook post read out me (I don’t do Facebook).
It suggested that there be no limit on the number of condoms people can buy because the type of people panic buying should be prevented from breeding.
My wife and I have decided that now is as good as time as any to try for another kid (the last one took quite a while).

He's not the first to warn of it. There was a paper published in 2006-2007 IIRC after SARS, regarding the reservoir of coronaviruses in wild bat populations which could feasibly jump to humans.

I noticed something bizarre in a free regional paper dated 17th March. Two separate adverts from two different companies for coffins, including photos of the options. Never seen that before, (or at least noticed it). Guessing that they are one sector that may see increased business from this.
