People aged 70 and older have been suggested to stay at home as much as possible. NZers suggested to restrict travel throughout the country to reduce spread

The PM asked for people older than 70 to stay home. Companies should activate work from home protocols or shift work. Limit of movement, especially unnecessary travel.

I'm wondering if this new Covid 19 Alert system will use the Civil Defence Mobile Alert system?

Looks like covid19.govt.nz doesn't have enough capacity to serve everyone at the moment!

I assumed an app, but Im not seeing that. I thought that as its national but also regional, so I assumed must be an app. An app would get better buy in than just being a state of things at any point in time.

Yeah but using the CD alert system means people will get the message regardless unless they have an older phone and/or older Android/iOS

So no lock down just yet. That doesn't occur till alert level 4. We are at level 2.

If it's regional, I think it will use the mobile alert system to notify people. Not everyone will have apps and app notifications may or may not work at best.

What I would like to see supermarkets do is pull aside those people whose trolleys are full of goods where it doesn't look like they are shopping normally. Psychologically if people know they may be pulled aside it may mean others think again about how they are shopping.
