Actually, I like broccoli though it's not my favourite. I really enjoy Brussels sprouts. I can't understand how anyone cannot like them. They are the best thing about winter, a bit like cabbage, only better.

Cabbage and asparagus are getting near brussel sprouts for grossness. Broccoli isn't that bad.

Yum, asparagus. Wonderful on toast. I have it every morning for breakfast during the season.

If you need more protein, then eat Whey Protein Isolate. 90% protein. 0.1% carbs. 0.1%fat. Fonterra make it. Only problem is that you can't buy it directly from them unless you buy it in 500Kg lots. (I have tried) You have to buy it from 3rd party resellers. (And farmers wonder why the value added portion of their payout is so low)

You don't eat broccoli for protein, you eat tofu, or eggs.

Interesting, the add does not technically lie, it just misrepresents the truth significantly.

I have been reading recently on Facebook about the anti horse racing brigade posting up statistics, ones which I personally know to be fabrication, especially when they say "90-100% of race horses have ulcers" (a statistic that no statistician would ever put their name to.

The fact is that the body needs a balanced diet, my personal diet consists of fat, meat, vegetables and chocolate that being in reverse order of quantity :P

I tend to eat what my body tells me it needs, usually salad or veges with a serving of meat.

And yet we vegetarians may have the last laugh (literally) when those manly-man carnivores who seem to be unable to eat a balanced diet are no longer with us.

Vegetarians are immortal ?!?!

:-)

Clearly not: what do they think the carnivores would eat as a food of last resort?! ;-)

You're implying that the devil is a man - how sexist.

Also asparagus and brussel sprouts are blegh. Cauliflower and Broccoli are the best. Broccoli however is the WORST with braces. Find little florets stuck in there hours later.

I watched a documentary on BBC Knowledge a while ago about taste.

Apparently, people who generally dislike vegetables are often 'super tasters' with more than the typical number of taste buds. This results in them being able to taste a bitter chemical that is present in several vegetables (broccoli is one) which 'normal' tasters cannot taste.

Or their parents fed them bland food, and they never got used to stronger tastes. Fed your babies blended liver!

I approve of that.

I am Brazilian. There's no such a thing as "bland food". We're talking barbecue, feijoadas, sauces. No, I like tasty food and vegetables don't enter this category.
