I am on my fourth week recovering from a hernia operation - which was supposed to be a laparascopy but because I had one done 20 years ago was changed to an open surgery. Still feeling uncomfortable when walking too much but overall going well. Took painkillers (Panadol and Tramadol) for ten days after the surgery...

I hope you get better soon. Not fund being at home lying around.

Got mine Nov last year.. I had relatives staying at home who I didn't want to discuss that with so sitting on the couch with a bag of ice was not an option...

Also...I did get kicked in the nuts by my daughter, while playing around...

Now that you mention it I thoroughly enjoyed my weekend doing a double shift to meet a deadline Monday gone, I’d happily do another this weekend to avoid your circumstances too. Rest up

To top things off, did anyone else know that the android default for outlook is reply to all?  I didn't.  As soon as you start replying you can't see that it is reply all.

After replying to the work nurses email asking if I could still get the flu jab later this week even though I suffered from some complications after a vasectomy and needed the week off work, I started to get a number of replies ( I had emailed all 300+ staff at work).

If anyone gives me any grief I will simply offer to show the photos.

Drain gets removed from my scrotum tomorrow can't wait.

Ok, that is funny.

On the positive side, you don't need to try and figure out how to explain why you're off work.  Everyone now knows.   :-p

Just call it an April's fool joke. Then they'll never know. Until they see how you walk that is.

My three days in hospital, drugs and surgery must have cost tax payers $10,000 of thousands of dollars

It would've been quicker and cheaper to just lop off the offending bollocks! You won't need them anyway, right? šŸ˜ˆšŸ˜„

I got mine done in 2015 during the cricket world cup. Had it down in the morning so I could spend the afternoon at home recuperating while watching the BlackCaps (20/2/15 - Blackcaps beat England at the Stadium). I planned it well :)

Ah, and here was I envisaging that you were out at silly fine leg, getting snipped between overs.

Oddest thing... During post-vasectomy sex, I was thinking "Well, this is a waste of time".

I would have been at long leg. Nothing silly about it 🤣

Can't say I've ever thought that, pre or post.  Very odd indeed.

What do you know, Snip is refunding the full amount as an act of good will.

I do understand that my reaction was very unlikely and I got unlucky, but I do wonder who keeps track of this type of thing?

My three days in hospital, drugs and surgery must have cost tax payers $10,000 of thousands of dollars

Side comment I know... but your 3 days would have cost a lot more than $10k. If most people in NZ knew the real cost of health and how much is already funded from their taxes...

Hard luck for you, and good that you're getting your money back, but this is a pretty rubbish experience. Is any effort going to be taken to ascertain what the cock up was (I couldnt resist using that), or is this going to be written of as a 'Oops'?

I've seen enough medical Oops in my life to have no tolerance for it anymore, but the industry seems to be pretty good at just glossing over stuff and NEVER TALKING ABOUT IT AGAIN.
