So I had a vasectomy at The Snip Vasectomy Clinic in Remuera after work on Friday.  Got home at 4.30 and at 4.45 decided to check the damage.  Had a look and my underpants were full of blood and the swab as wring-able.  Thought this doesn't look right.  Called the nurse and they said go to an A and E.  Went to an A and E, waited 3/4 of an hour and the doctor said, I assume your scrotum hasn't always looked like that?  I looked down and saw my left nut was about the size of an apple.  He told me I had to get to the Emergency department in town.

Drove in and waited another 30-45 minutes to be seen and by this time it was the size of a grapefruit.  Doctor said you have to apply pressure to it for as long as you can and put me on morphine so I could handle the pain of squeezing my grapefruit size scrotum (but this stage it is also black with bruising).  He came back about an hour later and it had reduced in size a little and he said it probably isn't arterial but there is too much blood in there to do an ultra sound, stay over night and we will do it tomorrow.

Next morning got looked at and told i would be getting an ultrasound sometime.  Sat round waiting and waiting and finally at 1pm had an ultrasound.  Went back to my room and waited and waited, by five I was a bit annoyed and finally found out i was booked for surgery to remove a 200ml hematoma from between my testicles.

Next day was told the surgery could be any time so was expecting to be waiting all day but at 10am got called in and by 10.45 was awake again, getting put to sleep was weird.  I remember being told we will just put this drug in and then I remember waking up facing the wrong direction.  I got taken back to my room, had a look and have this 3 cm wide drain sticking out of my scrotum (has to stay in there for 3 days).  I didn't see a doctor for the rest of the day, but the nurse gave me some Tramadol and sleeping pills so I could at least get some sleep (previous two nights between snoring, yelling, beeping, lights and blood pressure checks I didn't get much).

Got released this morning and finally got home with a drip out of my black swollen scrotum. 

Not allowed to exercise for at least 3 weeks possible 8 weeks.  Off work for at least a week.

The nurses in at Auckland hospital were great just really disappointed in the complete lack of communication from the doctors.
