Handle9: Boris Johnson has COVID19. Must be time for a trans-atlantic summit...

Facebook is a cesspool. I've been considering exiting for a while. It's just a pain in the posterior as it's a very efficient way to share stuff with people when you live overseas.
This thread is a cesspool. It's armpit deep in armchair experts, doomsayers, conspiracy theorists and stirrers. There's a lot to wade through to get to anything useful.

I dont see it that way. Aside from some pointless commentary, there is a lot that anyone can learn if they read all this. From general helpful guidelines to deep technical medical facts. If the thread was about Pokemon or carpet, you will still always get a spread of positive to negative with a sprinkling of dump posts thrown in. Its a discussion, no matter what the format is

here's something useful. wear a mask, wash hands. it's targeted at health care workers who come into contact with infected people but it should apply to normal people who come into contact with infected people IMO. something the west will never do.
originally the advice to not wear a face mask IMO is driven from the lack of stock and needing to redirect supplies to medical staff. the policy makers should really admit they are wrong, just as how they have been so wrong with every other policy they have come up with, and tell the public they should wear a mask, at the very least in regions where there is an outbreak.
"Transmission seems to occur primarily through sustained exposure in the absence of basic protection (surgical mask) or through the lack of hand hygiene after contact with secretions."

German Cathedral Dusts off Relics of St Corona, Patron of Epidemics
AACHEN, Germany (Reuters) - Germany's Aachen Cathedral has dug out the relics of little-known Saint Corona, patron saint of resisting epidemics, from its treasure chamber and is polishing up her elaborate shrine to go on show once the coronavirus pandemic has passed.
Saint Corona was a Christian martyr who was killed by the Romans in what is now modern-day Syria, 1,800 years ago during the reign of Marcus Aurelius.
According to legend, she suffered a particularly gruesome death, being tethered to two bent palm trees before being ripped apart as the trunks were released.

I have found this thread to be useful and informative. It is not difficult to screen out the drek.

I thought I'd made it clear that there is useful stuff here but you have to wade through a lot of crap to get to it.

Of course it's a discussion. But I think the ratio is the opposite to what you've suggested. I think it's mostly dump posts with a sprinkling of useful posts. There's a number of people here who ought to seriously consider whether they're adding anything constructive to the discourse.
My view is NZ did it right on Level 4 this week. We made the decision last weekend to keep all staff at home.
We got ready a few weeks back. For Australia we sent staff home a week earlier than NZ lock down.
What I find strange was hearing Scomo and the lack of lock down in Australia.

You'll need to change the 'Show' field to All in order to change the 'Highlight' field to New Zealand.
Looks to me like we're still climbing and not yet approaching a flattening of the curve.
