4.

Every 30 days. Or Major update.

Latest version will ask you if you want to save into credential manager if there is a default OS one.

Stupid app. Asking me to login and its only been a couple of weeks since I last used it.

Couldnt remember my password, so threw phone back in my bag.

When I reinstalled it, it took me several tries to reset my password. For some reason, on Android, when you open the app from the home screen it resets back to the home page (leaving the screen where you input the reset code, new password, etc). Very strange behaviour which I'm pretty sure other apps don't do? Ended up having to be careful to switch directly to the app via the task switcher and that seemed to return me to the reset password part of the app.

Am really hoping it remembers my password from now on!

As far as I can recall it has never logged me out and I've definitely had it for more than 30 days. It sounds like it is behaving differently on different models of phone.

They've hard coded it. And a broken record responce telling anyone that moans about it on the android reviews.

BUT, if you have a secure PW manager it may be intercepting since last update.

(it won't unless you let the samsung vault gab it)

The code changes is the largest public gripe.

Depending on the phones switcher or users it seems. Hard trained to use back button for everything, or home, or app switch

I can't recall if Huawei switched out OK. Or if I just used the draw-down bar preview and memorised the code from the email body - which means the app still has focus. But it seems many don't do that. And each time the app isn't focused - it invalidates the code.

Other trick is to guide people to login using the web first. And just do 'signin' within app.

https://tracing.covid19.govt.nz/signup

It's basically a portal of what the app uses. But since a real browser it doesn't trigger it.

Awesome thanks for that link. Probably will reset my password that way if it comes to that.

Went to the bakery and there were people infront of the QR when I left so I went to do a manual checkin when I was back in the car. No list to choose from just somewhere that I had to type the name of the place into. Doesnt seem very useful to me.

I admit I haven’t visited this thread for a while, so I apologise if this has already been raised.

Up to this point I had been keeping an analogue diary (pencil and paper), yes even in level 1! Recorded arrival and departure times and activity. Backed it up by taking photos of the location I visited, relying on the image metadata to backup my diary.

But now that the display of QR codes is mandatory, I have started using the Covid app as well.

I would like is a simple way to annotate “leaving this location now” for the place I’ve just scanned into. And add info to the app diary.

To me they need to add a button on the dashboard for “leaving location” which allows you to select the location and have the current time annotated from the system time. If you forget, the ability to add an approximate exit time to the diary function would be good. As would ‘activity’. When you visit a location multiple times, sometimes to wander around, and other times to interact with staff, I’m sure being able to recall activity would be of use.

That way I’d be able to ditch my paper diary.

Use the Rippl app https://www.paperkite.co.nz/rippl/

It reads the offical covid QR codes, and requires you to "checkin" and "checkout".

It should also be noted that you will not get any MOH notifications. This is a trade-off which needs to be made clear IMHO.

Indeed, it will be interesting to see what people got when sent the MoH notification as was done for a number of Rotorua locations

I was using the Rippl app until new version of the MoH supported Android 6, I found more often that not I forgot to checkout. I suspect many people are happy with a one step process i.e. checkin but many may forgot a check-out function

You can simply scan when you arrive  and then scan again when you leave - each scan is time stamped so it will be an obvious record of the time that you were there.

I have been happy to just scan in at each place - not sure that it is too critical to have the times precise.

Nope. They want to identify day/people first.

Then work it from there. It's not 'at this minute' until later in the stage. Much like the bus data coming out today

I have also wondered about not logging out from a site.

If an infected person enters a site late in the afternoon, everyone that had been there at any time during the day could possibly get notified?

I wouldn't bother with check out in addition to check in. That you have visited a place at a specific day/time should be ample for contract tracing.
