nzkiwiman:

Sometime in the last 24 hours, the rules for coffee were changed.

Yesterday (as an essential worker) I could get Coffee and Thickshakes as well as some hot food from the local Night N Day store (a diary); today I can't.

Checking the business.govt website; the working has changed
"Dairies can open. Food and drink can be bought and sold, but cannot be prepared, packaged or consumed onsite after ordering. For example, barista coffee cannot be sold; but hot pies can be sold from a warmer."

*sigh*

Z started coffees this week but weren't last week and I just went to my local BP2GO and they are also doing them. Seems rules have changed since last L4 or businesses are looking for ways around them. Even our local saw mill is working.

MTA have advised all their members of the change that appeared sometime after midnight. But are not happy (this should really be in the 'other' thread)

Just got my 2nd at Orchard road.

Capacity has doubled. 21 booths. about 6 active, and 4-5 on moving trolley speed-jab

I rolled up 2mins short (not early as suggested) and the Student Volly Army are guiding early traffic to stay in car, ready to rock straight into the tent (me). So ended up lsleeves up about 20mins behind that

Security guard asks 1st line of defense Qs. Sends you in. Reception takes care of you depending on 1/2nd and send you to waiting. Another member stages you for stab. Jab, out for card completetion. Hand off to another 'catch and release' volunteer. Spaced line waiting room. And out the door.

Didn't take any notice if it was 15 or 20min stand-down now. But there was 2 'naughty chair' 30min high-risk chars out front of everyone else.

Awaiting punched-arm effect to kick in.

Are the vaccination centres still open in Auckland?

Im due a second dose in a couple of weeks and im wondering if there is a website to show if things are open or closed.

I know the Epsom one was closed for a few days at least to help with the rush on testing.

It's very strange. I was booked for my first vaccination in the Epsom centre last weekend, but I got an email saying it was cancelled. Then they sent an email saying I could go to a drive through, but no access to a car right now.

Booked a new appointment on the web site at another vaccination centre, and I have a booking in early October, so at least I'm in the system again. Then I tried to see if there were options to change location to get an earlier jab, but nothing in a reasonable distance that could offer more than 3-4 days earlier and when I try to change location, it doesn't show the Epsom centre as an option.

Then my son who is in the 30+ bracket books his vaccination late last night and the site offers him Epsom and he now gets his vaccination in late September a few days before me.

This site shows them as temporarily closed.

So it might depend on a number of factors. There is a possibility that if we are still in level 4 on your appointment date and they need that testing capacity, your vaccination could be cancelled and you will need to book again. You could try booking at another location, but it might be a lot later.

If you are in Dunedin the Drive-through vaccination center outside the Edgar Centre doesn't require appointments and is open for all ages 12+.
Just a short waiting time before plus the 20 mins after.

My 12yo & 16yo just had their first jabs today.

For those who said that they pre-registered for their vaccination and never received a txt when their group was up, I received mine this afternoon (first day 30+).

Curious on peoples thought's around timing and side effects.

I had my first a few weeks ago (02/08) and was due to have my 2nd on 23/08 but rescheduled to 10/09 after the advice changed from 3 weeks to 6 between. Also partly because I wanted to change to a Friday after the 1st jab knocked me around a bit (headache, nausea, some fatigue on the day, barely got out of bed 2nd day, was still fatigued for a couple of days after that). Everyone who I've talked to either had no side effects or milder ones so I just seem to have drawn the short straw. All mine were known and "common" side effects, but like most people I wasn't really expecting to get any lol.

Yes i have noted it is shown as temporarily closed.

This could be a problem as i have had my first jab and booked for a six week gap between, they cant book me too much later as it will be outside of the times between doses.

Ill have to ring the 0800 number i guess to see what will happen.

neb: So if you're isolating and you don't get a daily call it's fine, they're just awfully backlogged.

A followup for anyone else in this position, they're doing the checkups via emailed daily-health-check links which just ask you all the questions the phonecalls would cover, with an option to call them if you need further help. The DHB person I talked to also asked that they be completed as soon as you can since non-completion means they have to call you to do it manually, which further strains an already-stressed system.

My first jab was minor. If I moved my shoulder I could feel some tenderness. Did my chores as usual. 2nd is 2 Sept.

Booked in for my jab along with my wife at the back end of September.

We can take our 14 year old, without an appointment of his own, but it looks like we can't take our 16 year old, as he falls outside the parameters...am I right in this thinking, or have I got my wires crossed?

It's going to be challenging enough as it is, because both myself and my 14yo are horrifically needle phobic, so already having a few freakout moments. Would be good if we can all just get it over and done in one hit, so to speak.

Hmmmmm...  that's gotta suck.  Perhaps the two of you do it together if you can?  I've heard from other needle-phobes that lying down makes a big difference, so you may be able to call venues to ask if any allow for this?

Can you book on behalf of your 16 year old at the same time as you? or within 10 minutes?

Thats what me and my wife did. Couldn't do it at the same time but 6 minutes apart.

I hope it will apply to you, but I found the jab as the least painful of any injections I've ever had. Needle might be tinier than most? Look away, you may not even feel it

I'm a total needle-freak-outer and I survived.

I looked away and told the vaccinator not to talk to me, so I wouldn't know when it was happening.

Not painful at all.
