Having activated it on my phone, it informs me that "Exposure Notifications Are Not Currently Available as it has not been turned on for your region by your public health authority."
Hmm... works for me!
Wow, my one just says "Your Region Has An Exposure Notification App" and offers to take me to the App Store (but doesn't enable the notifications after that).
What version is your COVID Tracer App? I'm on 1.2.1.
Might be because I'm on the iOS 14 Dev Beta, hmmmnnn.
I'm also on app 1.2.1. I've never had iOS 14 on this phone.
Read today that Google & Apple are releasing a strawman type tracing app for health authorities to use - perhaps it's to do with that? For instaces where existing apps that have been deployed have failed... hah
I have version 1.2.1 but the last update was the 25th of August, so it sounds like there might be another update to that app that I haven't received yet?
When I go to the exposure notifications settings it is not possible to turn it on.

You'll also need iOS 13.7 which came out this morning (NZ time), I believe. That's what enables this new "exposure notifications lite" feature.
Yep. Tested with a coworker's 13.6 phone and it won't let him turn it on (says it need a supporting app installed). With 13.7 you can turn it on without having any other apps.
So that’s why I’m not seeing this exposure thing, iPhone 6 iOS 12.4.8
Guess I’ll only be able to scan and not do anything else with it in future.
Also a place I went to Monday, scanned and green OK button, but looking at it now, Not showing in view diary. I’ve added it manually, keep an eye out to see if happens again.

So if you turn it on without any supporting apps does it actually do anything?
I think 13.7 has all the necessary stuff provided as part of the OS, so that the third-party apps aren't necessary. Obviously I can't be certain that it works since I don't know anyone with Covid, but that's the impression I got.

Yep works for me and my partners iPhone now. All iOS 37.0 and App 1.2.1
I must of been to quick out of the blocks this morning - don't know ?
Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.
I upgraded to 13.7 this morning and was told the region was not available, then I had to close out of the app which was 1.2.1, reboot my phone and go back into exposure notification and now I can add in NZ.
Nice one MOH. As to me that looks like they have added the Google/iOS Bluetooth support into the App.
This is really cool. Is it turned on by default when you run the iOS update?
My only concern is that most people won't know it's available, and this technology will only be effective if it has critical mass.
It's off by default, and there was no mention of it during today's Covid press conference.

I'd bet this is a surprise for the locals too...
