It involves nine coronavirus cases in Germany.

It suggests that infected people can shed the virus at high levels during the first week of infection.

What is "shed" in this context? Transmit?

The virus is replicating fast, your (lung) tissues etc releasing millions of freshly made virions, pace of replication not slowed by your immune system which hasn't yet ramped up production of antibodies - and plenty of fresh cells in your lungs available for the virus to consume. Respiratory viruses are bad news - because you're coughing them up in this case before you're feeling sick - part of that feeling sick (fever etc) is an aspect of your immune response. Because it's a "novel" (to humans) virus - our immune system is ill adapted to deal with it.

I think it's pretty clear, sadly, that this guy is another genius who knows more about virology than the CDC. Bigly.

If the disease could be limited to him and his followers, I'd welcome this as a Darwinism. Sadly, a whole lot of innocent and intelligent people will die because of these morons.

I just don't see how this is important right now. Why focus on what happened in the early days of the pandemic? This is something to come back to in a few weeks or months. Right now the focus needs to be on right now, and the immediate future. Also, I don't trust any American source any more than I trust a Chinese source (I don't trust either of them).

I see how it is important. After the war (on covid19) is over and the world goes after ‘war reparations’ I hope the Chinese Communist Party has a big chequebook. A bigger one than it used to buy the WHO.

Serious question. Are over 70s allowed to go to the fruit & vege shop/supermarket? TWhere I am this group seems to be making a visit a local shop the local store the daily outing. Lots of chit chat & laughter Queues are about an hour now so now I am forced to drive outside of my community to get groceries.

Would be nice if the PM "had a rant" at this age demographic.

US totals now are 213,282 cases, 4982 deaths.
So far today, 24,738 new cases, 943 new deaths.

At some point in the near future, I'd expect the US systems collating case data to fall over. For now it's probably just a glitch.

Yea at some point this data is just going to become meaningless and I suspect the US is screaming towards that at a great rate of knots.
