MikeB4:

Just checking in to say I am still on planet earth. This week has been a nightmare. My wife tested positive on Monday. The last two days she has been very ill. Today I am concerned about her O2 levels. Her normal is 98% but this morning she has dropped to 91% and the oxymeter beeps a lot. Her BP is ok and temperature is OK. She is coughing a lot and has coughing fits.

@mikeb4

91 is lowish. I'd be consulting a doctor without delay.

Not to alarm you, but the thing about Oxygen stats is they can plummet rapidly.

Better safe than sorry, contact your trusted medical professional without delay.

I am checking her O2 every 30 minutes now. I rang our medical centre and spoke to the Nurse Specialist, she said I am doing the right thing. If the percentage range  drops to 90% call an ambulance and let the medical centre know.

91 (if true, or the meter could be reading lower than it should, or the meter is reading higher than it should - ie true number is 80s or less) is ambulance territory. call 111.

91 isn't significantly different from 90. I'd be calling for that ambulance now (It's within the margin of error and you aren't going to be 100% sure of the accuracy of your Oximeter unless you have the same reading from multiple different ones. Respiratory issues shouldn't be messed with as it relates to Covid.

Hopefully, they come, check her over and say she is OKish, but if she isn't, you really want to be on top of that earlier rather than later.

I have nothing useful to add, Mike, just wishes for the best. Maybe erring on the side of caution is better than not. Good luck. Take care.

Sorry to hear the experiences some of you are going through, it’s pretty sobering stuff.

one of our twins said she wasn’t feeling well last Friday, wife was gonna send her to school but I’ve got a slow threshold for this sorta thing at the moment and we kept her home, developed a temperature, fever, and hoarse throat that afternoon, RaT on Saturday morning confirmed her as covid, so we’ve been isolating since (except for work as we are both critical workers).

by Monday it had improved to a cold, and now she’s all good, albiet just a little tired. Her brother had a small cold this week, testing negative each day, I had a cr Monday as had a sore throat for the last week, my wife has developed a sore throat but all testing negative, although if she still has it tomorrow she needs a PCR.

my wife and I both triple vaxxed, kids had only had one so far. I appreciate we’ve had it fairly light compared to others and for that I’m very grateful to the response of people to get vaccinated and to do the right thing with isolating and so on.

Wife’s boss has been in bed since Saturday morning with it after catching it from his kids who had minor symptoms (boss at least dbl vaxxed), she’s had 3 other colleagues with it and one has been quite ill at home while the others have had cold like symptoms.

2 of my colleagues have had it, one was fine while the other is still quite crook at 10 days (scary thing is he is 40, reasonably fit and healthy).

I Work in a cancer treatment service and so far we’ve had 3 patients test positive over the past 3 weeks (out of roughly 80-100 patients coming through a day for treatment) and their symptoms have been at worst a mild cold. We are feeling a little nervous about the next week or two.

My conversations with others who have caught Covid recently have reminded me to take it very easy when recovering (when I eventually get it).  Significant fatigue seems common and I've seen advice to take your rest and recuperation seriously more than once.

I can't add more than has been said but I hope you both do well.

Had the same advice from a friend whose partner has long Covid, if you've had a bad case of it then spend another week or two taking it very easy even if you feel a lot better. Your body needs more time to recover and throwing yourself back into your pre-Covid schedule immediately isn't going to give it that time.

Question - how is one supposed to 'provide proof of being positive' or similar? My wife and teen have been asked to provide some form of documentation that they are household contacts, so I've sent a screenshot of the positive Rapid Antigen Test on the My Covid page.

Am I missing something, like a "Print out official proof of close contact" button or similar?

Report the positive result using the My Covid Record website. Screenshot it. Every result, positive or negative, should be recorded anyway.

Sorry - I should clarify. I need to provide proof to people such as my wife's and my teen's employers for administrative reasons related to sick leave, etc.

The screenshot option seems clunky, but it is the only option I've been able to find so far.
