MikeB4:Just checking in to say I am still on planet earth. This week has been a nightmare. My wife tested positive on Monday. The last two days she has been very ill. Today I am concerned about her O2 levels. Her normal is 98% but this morning she has dropped to 91% and the oxymeter beeps a lot. Her BP is ok and temperature is OK. She is coughing a lot and has coughing fits.

Hope this all ends soon for you both with a great outcome. Just to give you another aspect of the oxygen readings. My meter also beeps as it takes the reading. I did two readings one day. One reading was 93 the next was 87 I took a photo of them as a record as it’s happened a few times and every time Dr takes it it’s ok. This is without any breathing difficulties or covid. Am a bit of a shallow breather with low BP, so I drank water and took deep breaths expanding the lungs and ensuring stomach rises as much as possible at each breath. Next reading went up to 97. Saying this so you try these methods and take a reading again to see if it changes.
Best of luck.
at the start of the pandemic we had UK doctors on social media telling everyone with covid to lie on their front (aka "prone") and breath from the stomach (ie using the diaphragm), to avoid being hospitalised as it can help oxygen levels for those who are marginal
is this been shown to be any good?

MikeB4: Unfortunately I have now tested positive and have symptoms hitting hard.
I am so sorry to hear that Mike. I live in fear of this for myself. I don't know what to say, except that I feel for you and I truly, truly hope you get through this okay. I know you have extra vulnerabilities, but that doesn't necessarily determine the outcome. I wish you all the best from the bottom of my heart. Take care, stay strong, and do everything you have to to get through this. Good luck with it. Keep us posted if you feel like it.

Sorry - I should clarify. I need to provide proof to people such as my wife's and my teen's employers for administrative reasons related to sick leave, etc.
The screenshot option seems clunky, but it is the only option I've been able to find so far.
Send it, if they aren't happy with it, then they will tell you what they actually require.

That's what I ended up doing. They also wanted a photo of the actual test, so I dug it out of the bin and took a snap. Obviously, either the screenshot or test itself could be faked laughably easily, but they seemed happy with these two pics.

Long story but... Father-in-law was taken to hospital four weeks on a completely non-covid related matter. Their house is being retrofitted with a lift and other facilities but after ten days in hospital the family thought it would be possible that he would not come back home but instead go to a rest home.
Then he got covid-positive, at the hospital. He was transferred to the covid ward and treated. Double-vaccinated and boosted, he recovered but developed pneumonia. He passed away yesterday.
This morning my wife got a positive RAT result. As she spent the last five days at the hospital or at her parent's place I thought I could be spared.
Our daughter complained of a sore throat yesterday and we think hers could be from school as a friend tested positive on Friday. Her tests (three so far) are negative.
So now we are isolated. I don't have any symptoms but think it will be just a matter of time before getting it. In the meantime we have our masks on (even at home between ourselves only) and the air purifier running at full blast (might not help, or might help) in the lounge where we spend most of the time now (although I try not to have much contact and stay in the home office).

Please accept my condolences for your father in law. While old ago catches up with us all and adds to our vulnerability it is never nice to see a loved one pass away.
I hope you, your wife and daughter come through your Covid experience without any complications or long term effects.
Right now it's a case of those who have had Covid and those who are yet to have it.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I'd look at cleaning / changing the filters once everybody in the household has recovered.
Hang in there MikeB4.
