It's reminiscent of the Auckland Uni Club in the mid 90s.

A plate of chips with your 24 beers and a side of chunder sir?

Bloody hell that was along time ago - and awesomely/sadly? accurate :)

But not really a surprise given the Engineers were mol running it :)

As you were.....

It was animal house in that place. The first night I went there I bet a guy something like $2.50 that he wouldn't eat a plate of chips, sauce, beer and cigarette ash. Naturally I had to pay. He's still a bloody good mate though.

I suspect it will use BLE packets.  When the RSSI is of a certain strength it theoretically indicates how close a person was to you.  The concept is the data is stored on the phone and then they download the data and can see all users who were in the persons vacinity.

Ah, yeah, and that would explain the frequent comments that "X numptillion phones won't be able to run it because they don't have the necessary technology for it".

Korea seems to have a real fight on its hands with the Itaewon district clubbing outbreak.

With cases now up to 86, they are hitting a wall with contact tracing.
With customers being shy about their clubbing activities, and perhaps false contact details.

There's probably an issue with the social stigma of visiting gay bars in South Korea.
Their testing/tracing strategy’s relied on people being willing to volunteer personal information.

According to Bloomberg, they're trying to trace 5,517 people, have reached less than 2,000 of them and found 86 positive cases.

At least they have - basically anonymous - easily accessible, drive-through testing sites.
When a super-spreader event in Daegu City happened within a religious sect, people worried about the stigma of being associated with the group were able to get tested that way.

In New Zealand i can imagine the stigma of being a P user, or visiting a brothel, combined with a 'high risk' lifestyle may be a path to untraceable CT, assuming a future 'breakout'. Something that accessible, anonymous, testing would have to be widely available for.

So now we finally have clarity on the timing of the extremely overdue Level 2 when is someone (especially local Mayors) going to have the discussion about trans-tasman travel?

Queensland is a perfect case in point.  It has the virus under control (fewer cases, fewer deaths, fewer active cases for a similar population size), we have the virus under control, ScoMo has passed the travel decision to a state level..... when is our absent Minister for Tourism or our Minister for Foreign Affairs going to engage with the Queensland Premier on travel - for the sakes of both our nations?

Where you wanting Level 2 after a 4 week Level 4? As you say we have it under control, that because we did 5 weeks at L4 and we did L3. Re travel, IIRC AUS has a case source of 10.1% unknown. Thats a worry for isolation free travel from QLD

@GV27 Please don't bring your politics into this thread. I have removed your previous reply (and others quoting it). The FUG is clear about not using "funny names" and you know it. You can no longer post in this sub-forum or Politics.

I wonder if today will bring more clarity on the rules around how many people can enter stores and malls etc (and if the limit for stores inside malls is at a store level or mall level?) - although as I mentioned earlier, I'll be staying away from any "crowds"

I also see that I was wrong; restaurants may have gatherings of 10 people, with up to 100 people on premise at once - that isn't as good as I thought it was (I was thinking 10 inside a restaurant total)

Each  table has to have their own server so if you have 12 tables you have to have 12 servers just in case.  Servers can't work other tables. Waste of time opening under those rules.

No

The rule was clarified as being "each table must have only one server, but a server may serve at multiple tables"

I.E. to use proper geekology terms, one-to-one and one-to-many relations are permitted, but many-to-many relations are prohibited.

Makes perfect sense now, I had the same perception as old3eyes. So staff can serve one table, wash hands and do another.

That's not the case.

Each table can only be served by one person

That person can serve multiple tables

russia is ending lockdown https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/may/11/russia-to-end-national-covid-19-lockdown-as-cases-hit-record-high

Ouch! Russia has been adding 10-15K cases a day, every day, for nearly two weeks now, which I suspect corresponds to their testing rate rather than the actual incidence. They've had relatively few deaths, but that may be because of the multi-week lag. This seems very premature.

Speaking of what is and isn't OK, saw a funny carton the other day of WFH videoconferencing with a heads-only shot of people in a business meeting with jackets and ties and then a whole-body shot of far less business-like behaviour below the waist. It wasn't X-rated but it certainly wasn't G-rated either, is it OK to post something like that here?
