I have removed your previous reply (and others quoting it).

Speaking of what is and isn't OK, saw a funny carton the other day of WFH videoconferencing with a heads-only shot of people in a business meeting with jackets and ties and then a whole-body shot of far less business-like behaviour below the waist. It wasn't X-rated but it certainly wasn't G-rated either, is it OK to post something like that here?

Sure... Unless it's too suggestive but shouldn't be a problem to start with.

Cult leader Brian Tamaki threatens to breach COVID level 2 restrictions

If this dickhead and his idiotic followers will live on a remote, sub-Antarctic island and never come back, they can feel free to do whatever they want to. Otherwise, I hope the police are ready to arrest all of them come Sunday.

Nothing stopping him from moving it online for a little while, oh hang on if he does this then the bucket he passes around for money won't get full and can't look down on people that don't put $$ in it.

I don't generally agree with Brian Tamaki, and promoting civil disobedience from someone in his position isn't a good look.

However he makes a very good point. A restaurant can have any number of patrons so long as they abide by the social distancing rules that have been laid down including up to 10 people per group/table yet churches are not free to operate using similar guidelines.

While I don't condone such action I would suggest that if a church was to conduct a church service, abiding by the same rules as restaurants will be using, the authorities would have a hard time justifying taking action against that church.

Update from Metlink this morning.  What could possibly go wrong?

OK, I've deleted it. I just saw the funny side of it, but I guess I'm more thick-skinned than most :-).

The image is x-rated. It was removed. You don't need to troll.

Well, yeah, I didn't know what the threshold was, and thought it was funny, as soon as I saw the reaction I deleted it.

On the plus side Tamaki is inviting his members to be tested. It's not clear how that will be organised. Presumably anywhere from several hundred to a couple of thousand people.

No mention of a contact tracing app?

Perhaps this is the real reason for the 10pax limit.

Yep surprised me too. But we are not Communist, could they force an App to work?

Also we still do not have broad population testing like Germany and SK. If we going to open our borders in the future for companies who cannot operate in their own due to lock downs and to take Uni students  who cannot study due to lock downs, to stimulate our economy with international business and students, would this then be required. Or do we just test every person coming in, instead of broad testing. Given how common aymptomatic cases are, Im of the opinion its quite feasible we have a number who have slipped the gaps and could possibly have infected others.

My final question is around our input into global input into a vaccine. It was raised that for the internationally funded Vaccine work, NZ had not contributed anything which put us in a position of not receiving any should that particular research result in success. Has that now changed and NZ put money into it?

Personally I think it is the Oxford based Vaccine development project that looks the most likely to suceed at this stage and be ready by possibly even September. It was privately funded and it has been stated no country will be treated with preference including the UK. I will dig that study up and post it. The person also funded a sister project for another method, but its not looking as promising.

No new cases today but in the individual case data yesterdays ‘overseas travel’ case is now showing as having arrived in NZ from France on 15 March.

Yesterdays media release states that it as an ‘imported’ case!

Given that the person had been back in NZ 56 days before she was tested, there can be no assurance that the infection was not picked up locally.  More justification for this being imported is required.  Or is it just clutching at straws to avoid labelling the source of infection as unknown.

I don't think the lack of a contract tracing app is a reason for the limits. Notice we are pretty much following the Aussie guidelines and they almost have an app running.
I am sure the MoH discusses regularly with Aussie health departments and everyone thinks a tracing app is nice to have but not essential.

I heard on RNZ that Singapore app to date has help detect only 6 people that contract tracing missed (to be fair I suspect Singapore is much better at contract tracing as everyone has to use their sim card number or national ID when entering a business etc.)

I am sure the limits just come down to playing it safe. 2 more weeks is not that long.

Haha yep. Basically that is a joke suggesting getting the next Bus from say Silverdale or Albany, which is packed out every day. Maybe it was was Jacinda's call and she was basing it on her memories of Morrinville lol ;-p.

It will mean people likely working from home where possible still as it could take 3 hours to clear. Unless they have been building buses on mass during the level 4 lockdown. Oh to have a train line with much higher capacity carriages running from Whangarei to Auck now. Of course knowing Aucklanders even if there were even a train they would choose to slow the economy (goods transport) by driving.

I didnt realise Jacinda is a mormon. That makes her work after the Australian Terrorist in CCH, where she showed great respect to the Islamic faith and her attire and entire attitude was very respectful at the time.

I thought she was from Palmy North.

Really not bad considering like the "Last Man Standing" she didnt want or aspire for this job. She is doing a stellar job imo and is a shoe in for Septembers election.

This is what I meant about how can it work if we are not Communist and cannot force peoples telephony habits. How exactly does the Singapore app work?

I know GPS would be a waste of time. Personally I never have mine on unless I need a service that requires it. So surely its not based around peoples phone usage? I dont know enough about the apps hence the questions.

I also wish there was more info. Did they test her post-covid infection status and they just has a fragments that were picked up?
If they are testing just now that seems also possible. But why not test prior in that case - she can't have been asymptomatic or why test?

Given she arrived after the self isolation requirement started you like to think they had self isolated for 14 days.

You would also assume that all close contacts have been tested and come back negative, or we would have heard today of another case.
