Batman: Some scientists think we aren't doing enough

https://www.odt.co.nz/news/national/nz-tempting-covid-fate-otago-researchers

I ceased reading about masks a long time ago. Thousand of words here expounding how good they are, and thousands saying they aren't. Pop this in pile 1, and we still don't have an answer

Even Trump is now saying masks are good.  NZ has got to be the last country left in the "masks may be bad/ lack of evidence they do good" category.  The Otago researcher is right.  If masks were made compulsory in category 2 and above now, then people will have the time to prepare.  Waiting until later will only cause panic buying like in Victoria.

Melb in 2-3 weeks time may be a test case. Another full cycle or so of lead after they went !=masks = $200 to see if the 'curve' drops from the steady pace it is at now.

We know the US tried but don't comply. So they weren't a good example. But news tonight showed how hard the aussies are starting out with the pen and paper.

Funny enough, that's the intention. Be like NZ

Nevermind the 5 dorks in Hamilton that skipped the same fence as previous absconder tonight.. *facepalm*

You mean has caved to earn points for later in the year.

He FINALLY put one on himself in public only recently to look the part. The chart a few pages back tells the tale. It's an even further ditched effort to lower the stats they are already now withholding.

Just because you test more you see more?, well, there should also be a decrease in cases if everyone was distancing.  But it's been going up and beyond.

It was a quick tune change 2 days ago. And pushed another 5 states to issue mask requirements for bonus points. Finally taking the reigns.

On the weekend when we had Armageddon, one of the first comments 'we'll they're adhering to social distancing aren't they' - You guessed it. Someone in Florida.

And I have a customer issued an alert the same night (our time) by their US counterparts due that announcement to hand out everyone masks in the workplace and make them wear them here. They were recently seen on video conf by some people in the states now they moved to a video capable platform, and they were surprised they were a, not working from home still. B, beside other workers. c, Even in the office together. Let alone maskless

It appears they are being so bombarded with internal matters and mainly news how 'great' their leaders are doing against the fight day to day that they have NO clue places in the rest of the world are looking in and actually not in the same position.

It might be a different one but mattwnz was quite right. Taken directly from the link:

Your business must have either:

  • experienced a minimum 30 per cent decline in actual or predicted revenue over the period of a month when compared to the same month last year, or a reasonably equivalent month for a business operating less than a year, and that revenue loss is attributable to the COVID-19 outbreak; or
  • had your ability to support your employee due to the COVID-19 public health restrictions negatively impacted.

I agree, I was referring to what I read on this thread re masks, pages and pages of good vs bad. IMO they reduce the breathing spray of the virus, have little effect on sucking it in, but any help is a good thing

What Trump says is irrelevant

ummmm, go back and read the screeds of posts here saying they aren't much chop. Many of them technical. I agree with you although the virus will get into the air and settle on things, end up on hands, scratch itchy nose etc, but end of the day its helps

Jonathan Pie latest video.  Simply brilliant.....   https://youtu.be/wZQkBHysrig  (caution... lots of swearing)

Looks like England still in the same boat as NZ with regards to masks (except they need a mask policy now where as we need one for level 2 and above).
