No other country has reported as many cases.

Brazil ranks second, with about three million, and India is third with two million. (In cases per capita, the United States ranks eighth, between Oman and Peru.) ...

You get that when health and other sectors are underfunded to help promote fake surpluses. Thats changing.

Are there numbers per day actually decreasing as shown in the graph. Or is it a case of less testing being done? As the president said, the more they test the more cases they will find.

I don't know if this has been posted yet but great interview with Bill Gates from Wired:

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Great article, I noted this paragraph pretty much sums up USA situation.
Patients in charge of the asylum or what.

Wasn’t Kennedy Jr. talking about you using vaccines to implant chips into people?

Yeah, you’re right. He, Roger Stone, Laura Ingraham. They do it in this kind of way: “I’ve heard lots of people say X, Y, Z.” That’s kind of Trumpish plausible deniability. Anyway, there was a meeting where Francis Collins, Tony Fauci, and I had to [attend], and they had no data about anything. When we would say, “But wait a minute, that’s not real data,” they’d say, “Look, Trump told you you have to sit and listen, so just shut up and listen anyway.” So it’s a bit ironic that the president is now trying to have some benefit from a vaccine.

Fred99:

The age group that expressed the most skepticism about a vaccine were those between 50 and 64 years old (59%) -- and the group that was most accepting of a vaccine were between 18 and 29 (76%).

Politically, 81% of Democrats, 59% of independents and 47% of Republicans said they would take the vaccine.

Article

The US really is an idiocracy / divided nation.

only 53% of Brits would definitely have vaccine while "about a third in certain groups won't" https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/aug/09/only-half-of-britons-would-definitely-have-covid-19-vaccination

TM has been a cesspool for far-right and CT morons.  They shut down some of the most toxic message boards, but some of the trolls just can't help themselves.

These are they type of person who'd steal from a children's cancer charity, and vote for someone who did.

That's a serious problem.  Of course anything from government to educate or encourage the public to get vaccinated becomes target for conspiracy theory - reinforcing their belief that microchips are being injected or whatever. Social media companies have failed society.

The % saying they would be vaccinated has declined since May 2020.
