was watching an interview with a Swedish minister
- Sweden counts every death in people tested covid +ve as Covid deaths. even if completely unrelated
- not sure of the proportion of actual deaths directly attributed to Covid - the minister suggested 15% only, but i think the figure is higher

Australia, stark reality of Victoria situation.
Daniel Andrews reveals Victorian roadmap out of Melbourne lockdown and stage 3 coronavirus restrictions

In his announcement, Mr Andrews revealed Melburnians would face another two weeks of stage 4 restrictions after September 13, but with some modifications.
""
The Australian Hotels Association said hotels and pubs faced "going over a cliff" under the extension to Melbourne's stage 4 restrictions contained in the plan.

It seems the larger the outbreak the longer the tail.
Behavior can change R value such that you might accelerate the drop, and have less restriction, trust works for trustworthy.
However there seems to be enough 'exceptional' people to keep things ticking over for a while.
NSW will not want to know them unless they are sure Victoria is on par.
Other states will want even better than that...
4 today, all either in isolation or quarantine.
Sounds encouraging.
Someone should keep a tally contributed by that stupid church. 1 of the CTs today is connected with it.

Yep, only 2 of them CT. Assuming that most contacts of the clusters are doing the right thing, we should get 0-5 for a couple of weeks as new hosts dry up. Its a formula that works

They are now serious about elimination and the cost is huge.
Even after they come out of lockdown in two weeks they have another 6 weeks(!) of curfew and hospitality/Schools/most retail will be closed.
Retail/Hospitality/Schools closed until the end of October!
And still under the city is curfew, can't drive more than 5km for good measure.
Then for most of November is there are limits to Hospitality with only outside dining and School starts back in a phased way.
Come end of November they are allowing inside dining ate pubs/restaurants, but building capacity limits of 50. also a max of 20 guests in a private home
- and this final step only kicks in if there have been no cases for the prior 2 weeks!

I don't think the Oz PM is happy about it, as he seemed to want all borders open so things could get back to normal for the economy. But these people don't realise that that won't likely happen, and it means a new normal of level 2-3, with social distancing and masks, and lockdowns to control things once infection rates increase again.
Shows the big problem with not acting soon enough, because once it is deep into the population, very difficult and a long period of time to get rid of it. I wonder how it will pan out for them, if they do actually manage to eliminate it, or they will give up once they get down to say 10 cases a day, and then potentially have to go back into lockdowns in future months. Other states seem to just be going down the suppression route.

Rough check from 31st when it was announced as a 'mini cluster' within the AKL one.. cause 1 sounds better than 2. Is about 30

or this cleanspace ex industrial product (with p3 filter and half face mask)
[would't let me post links, but you will find with a seach if you want]
I have used a fan forced positive pressure respirators (it was in the style of a face sheild style with air injected at the top and fabric to close the space between the side of your head/ neck and the edge of the face sheild). Really nice cool air blowing across your face when working hard on a hot day. Had battery pack and filter cartilages worn on a belt in the small of your back.
I don't think the products are that useful as a covid-19 mask. The main goal is to prevent spreading your own pathogens to other's. Positive pressure anything normally has blowby air, which could encourage the spread of pathogens. Likely better for to provide protection from atmospheric particulates (dust, pollin, viruses etc) to the wearer.
My assumption is that anything with batteries, fans, filter cartridges etc is going to be far to heavy to hang off your ears, and would the weight would be better positioned on the back of your head or your body connected with a air feed hose.

The classic economy before health debate. Sweden helped their economy the same way, but it also didnt work out compared to neighbour Norway
