Its possible that our NZ Model 3 ship has arrived in San Francisco and is currently getting loaded!
kingdragonfly: Before I get a response saying I'm a Tesla hater, I'm not. On a good day, Elon's exciting. However on a bad day, he's exasperating.
Like everyone, he has some serious personality flaws.

I visited Japan earlier this year.
Their work culture and work ethic cannot be understood by the Western world and cannot be matched by other Asian countries (except for may be South Korea but I'm just hazarding a guess).
Now I know why Japanese cars are so well built.

Well, looks like we were wrong. This ship is going to Europe. A few other possibilities on the horizon. Its also possible we are just getting containers.

I would guess that model 3 orders for NZ+OZ would be low 100s, simply not enough to warrant a sole ship,
There is a regular car service out of the US east coast (Savannah GA) that brings Toyota Highlanders from their US production site to NZ/OZ
(they are railed 1000km from manufacture in Indiana to the port),
Telsa Rail deliveries to the US east coast for domestic dealers, so it would be possible to tranship RHDs out via the East coast too,
... Or they could just containerise them, and send them from the east coast...

That would be unlikely, especially since they're shipping cars destined for Europe via the west coast (through the Panama Canal).
Model S and X come to NZ via containers however there's usually only a handful of those at a time.

D'oh .. I meant to say containerise and ship from the west coast,
but hey, they have moved from production hell to delivery hell, so they may come via the moon, :)

Credit to @excowboy on Twitter, but it looks like the first three Performance Model 3s have been spotted on Customs St today!
My test drive might be happening soon then :)

kingdragonfly: Tesla Model 3 2020 in-depth review
Carbuyer
"The Tesla Model 3 is the first affordable, mass-produced model in Tesla’s lineup. With its pure-electric drivetrain and minimalist interior, it offers buyers a high-tech alternative to conventional rivals such as the BMW 3 Series and Audi A4. The Model 3 has been eagerly awaited in the UK with a long waiting list for potential customers - but does it live up to the hype? Ginny drives one of the first right-hand-drive examples to find out."
It just needs to work out how to make money off selling them
"Tesla reported a second-quarter loss even as it made record deliveries, prompting renewed questions about the company’s future in a year when investor concerns have already sent its stock plummeting.
While the company’s revenues rose nearly 40% over the same quarter last year to $6.3 billion, the company still reported a loss of $408 million.
last time I looked TSLA was down over 11% since the bell

Its the falling margins that everyone appears worried about,
Q4 20.6 % Q1 20.2% Q2 18.9%- the target of 25% appears to be getting away on them....

I imagine Trumps tarrifs had some contribution to that. It'll be interesting to see how Gigafactory 3 in China helps with that...it's meant to be producing cars in November.
Overall, as a future buyer of a Model 3 I'm not really concerned. I don't see Tesla going away anytime soon but even if that were to happen I see it very unlikely that they'll just up and vanish. Someone will buy them.

I'm ordering a Model 3 as soon as my house in Greenlane, Auckland sells. It's just an awesome car. If I can, I'll try to get the long range version. I'm not fussed about the "performance" flavour......great way to wreck tyres. :-)
I have some Tesla shares.....and they have been volatile. But I've bought them at a wide range of price points across 10 months...and have lost a few dollars on some and made truckloads on others. They can help pay for my Model 3.

I am not surprised that a company thats so focused on building new factories, making new car models etc. is losing money.
Its no surprise their margins have gone down either, they only sold luxury cars (Model S and X) until very recently, and now their volume is Model 3, which sells for a lot less and probably have less of a margin.
