Are you talking about the "official" update released in early August 2018 by Nissan NZ, or the "unofficial" update released in June 2018 by EV's Enhanced, or possibly both of these?

The EV Enhanced update is sourced - at least in my case - from Nissan UK. It's 100% Nissan software. EU law requires such software to be publicly available.

Had the 30KW Leaf software update at Auckland city Nissan yesterday. Only took about 45 minutes.

Range increased with 14KM with battery only at 50% charge at the time. And SOH went from 83% to 93%! Worth the $115.

Haven't noticed any other changes yet. Looking forward to my next full charge and increased GOM distance which went down to 150km before the upgrade.

That's pretty much the same as me.

I now see a full 2kWh difference on a full charge. That's 12-16km, depending on how you drive and where.

Just had my 30KW Leaf software update at Manukau Nissan today

it went from SOH 81.62 to 91.57 most happy

I get the feeling that the driving mode has changeged re the regen

I drive mainly in B Mode and it feels like its doing more aggressive regen than before

Has anyone else had this experience? ( It not a bad change just different..)

I mucked myself up by doing the update, barely driving the car...and then drove a Chevy Bolt EV in Canada for 2 weeks.

The Bolt EV has *serious* one-pedal-driving regen.  No need to touch the brake if you gauge the stopping distance right....and you soon get better at that. The car comes to a complete halt very quickly...and regens up to 63kw instantaneously (highest I saw)....and typically in the mid-40s. That's some serious regen.

After that, my LEAF felt like it had no regen at all even in B-mode.

Last week I drove a BMW i3 for 3 days in Christchurch (and Culverden and Kaikoura.....long story)....and it also has one-pedal driving with very aggresive regen.

Again, my LEAF feels like it barely has regen at all.

This week I have a Hyundai Ioniq for 3 days.......and I tuned the "eco" mode to maximum regen.....and it also is far more powerful than a LEAF in B-mode.

So.......I'm stuffed there. But I now know strong regen is something I want in the next EV.

I am sure all Ev owners look to the future but am glad I Bought a Leaf great learning experience and savings being made all round. 3 or 4 years down the track who knows what we will be driving but is been great having all the support from you and the other owners regardless of what they are driving

I haven't noticed any difference in regen in B-mode, but I got about 4.4kWh extra after the update. Well worth it.

Totally...and thanks. :-)

The LEAF is an awesome car. It's roomy and comfortable...and much quieter inside than an Ioniq. If it had a 60kWh battery and temperature management of same, it would be hard to go past it.

That's a huge improvement.

Worth noting you had that all along....the car just wasn't reporting it properly....and who wants to try driving an extra 15 - 20km just before turtle to find out what's really there? :-)

Hi this is my first post.

I am a brand new owner of a second hand Japanese import 2016 Nissan Leaf 30kw X Gen 2 and absolutely love it.

The SOH was sitting at 84. something, got the car yard to get the update done before final agreement to purchase and it went up to 92.something (just can't quite remember what the 'something' was LOL!) Very happy with that so went ahead with purchase.

I have seen a few videos on YouTube and am going to try to link my phone by bluetooth; have successfully changed time from 12 hour to 24 hour, but haven't yet figured out how to update the actual time!

Would love to know how to link with NissanConnect too.....

More importantly, how do I do a subject search in this forum to get answers to all my burning questions. There doesn't seem to be any specific posts but rather a general forum is that correct?

Thanks so much

Haven't come across anyone who has nissanconnect working...

If you are on facebook, join the nz ev group as there are a couple of thousand members now. If you live outside Auckland see if there is a local events Facebook group for local experiences.

Apps/websites to try include plugshare, chargenet, Greenrace for trip planning , think about joining flip the fleet

Electric heaven website produces monthly handout which good for general introduction.

Think about installing a dedicated PowerPoint. Jp leaves are limited to 16A so a carsvan plug socket will Max your AC charging.

Post questions.

A.

Thanks so much for your response, really appreciate it. I won't waste anymore time trying to get NissanConnect to work now; are there any other apps that people use that work the same way?

I have joined Charge Net but haven't used it yet.

Will look at other suggestions you have given; however I don't do facebook. Is there anyone on this forum who knows of a EV group in Manawatu and who I may be able to contact?

FunForGin:)

You don't need to signup to FB to view the EV groups - there's loads of good reading material here https://www.facebook.com/groups/NZEVOwners/ and https://www.facebook.com/groups/655827161203344/

I don't do facebook either really.
My account goes to a disposable email address, have no friends and only access it via guest login in Mint which wipes itself of log out.

Unfortunately many people won't go further than facebook..
Haven't found a forum outside FB on ev in nz.

Reading outside facebook login doesn't list any replys/comments to original post on my mobile chrome which prevents you seeing answers to questions..

Nissan Connect and Maps won't work in NZ.  Same with GPS, it sets the clock correctly but to Japanese time.  You'll need to add 3 when you look at it, otherwise its fine.  I don't think there is a permanent fix for the clock yet.

The dash can be converted to English which is worth it, as you get clearer warnings that way.

Since its an X model its not really practical to replace the head unit with a working aftermarket one, as you'd lose climate controls.  Some people swap the Japanese head unit for an english one, but that's a few hundred dollars for another head unit that doesnt really work better (still no Carwings, maps or GPS).

Bluetooth Audio works on X models, but pairing instructions depend on the unit.  The dealer will have that info for you.
