It won't pair while you're moving, as we found out by trial and error, so make sure you pull over before you attempt it. Also, get Google Translate and download the Japanese module to the phone. That will allow you to point the camera at the screen and have it "translate" - yes, quotes intended - in real time.

...... from Nissan UK. It's 100% Nissan software. EU law requires such software to be publicly available.

USA 30kWh Upgrade version is available for purchase from Nissan Technical Support in USA for $20 In USA upgrade is free as mentioned in USA campaign.

Nissan New Zealand does not want to share/sell/give away the JDM file. I was tempted to compare with UK version.

Anyone have sourced the original JDM Upgrade file(s)?

We have the official JDM 30kWh update file now, but we weren't handed it on a silver platter either. Running in-depth comparisons between the official JDM file and the custom file we were previously using has confirmed no functional differences whatsoever (which we already knew).

@FunForGin and anyone else wanting to set the correct time on their clock or pair Bluetooth, recommend you check out this NZ guide to the Nissan leaf. Its also good for people shopping for a Leaf.

It has a video tutorial on how to stop the GPS messing with the clock and then how to set the clock to local time. I can confirm the same procedure also works on USA head-decks.

I have tried about 10 times to get into that secret menu on my 2012 Leaf, but I just can't get it to pop up.

There has to be something I'm doing wrong.

Got the timing right (pretty sure).

Any other suggestions?

Audio must be off when you start. It can be a bit finicky and usually takes me 2 or 3 attempts to get in. Sometimes a pause when changing from one button to the other helps (Map, map, map - pause - power, power - pause, map). The dealer demo'd it to me when I bought the car.

I moved to Hamilton after I got out, so it's a few charges to get back up to Auckland.

To be honest the time isn't a major issue, I work with people all over the world and it's only "add 3 to the time and you're right".

I'm just looking at utilizing the timed charging with discounted power at night. I mean, that's the reason for getting one of these things right? :-)

That guide didn't work for me on a 2016 model, and neither have any of the other videos I've watched. The required menu options as demonstrated in the video aren't available in my service menu.

Well I drove Dunedin to chch return and the difference was 0.4kwh/100km between exo mode and default.
So even if b mode regeneration is two or three times more efficient than exo mode, I am a little unsure how much difference it makes really. I'll take the English dash and controls.

(also it was 2 years ago I bought it)

...and the 6.6kw AC charger.......so I can fill the car in under 4 hours at 32amp. :-)

Is B mode different between UK and Japanese versions? In my experience B mode is a convenience feature rather than an energy saving one, once you know how to drive an EV. Genuinely convenient but I wouldn't expect a miracle in energy savings.

I liked the Japanese version since its Aluminum instead of steel, the car is a bit lighter. They got a bit miserly on the UK version in that respect.

The headunit can be swapped for a UK version, but that costs over $400. The UK versions I saw last year were a lot more than $400 above the Japanese versions so that didn't make sense to me, unless you want the 6.6kw AC charger, which must be great for those who drive a lot. We charge twice a week so no biggie :)
