If someone want to use Facebook to share with faceless "friends", they're idiots, but there's no law against being a corporate lackey to an evil corporation.

But why do kickstart businesses post their blogs to Facebook?

Use something like WordPress free plan for bloggers, and create a web site. There's also free plans from IM Creator, EzyWebs, and Weebly.

I'm definitely not creating a Facebook acount again, just to see a company's blog.

The Toyota HiLux is the most popular used truck in New Zealand. I'm sure that would be a popular conversion, perhaps even get some fleet work.

Ford Ranger actually made an EV truck briefly, in 1998-2002, with awful batteries, so maybe be a good idea to see if that could be improved.

I hired an inoque in chch from yoogoshare to drive to Hamner.

Nice car. Interesting to drive a car with active cruise control and lane warning etc. Initially I thought boot was small but you could get 2 large suitcases in.

In 24 hours,The Porsche Taycan just completed 3,424 km on the Nardo test ring.

This is over 5 round trips from Auckland to Wellington, or one trip from Los Angeles California to Atlanta Georgia

The Taycan's average speed was between 194 and 214 kph when they were out on track. Its only stops were for charging and driver changes — six factory test drivers shared the duties over the 24-hour test.

How was Porsche able to get enough charge into the battery pack fast enough to cover all those KM? Porsche says it used its 800-volt charging technology to fast-charge the Taycan. The charging station is sitting trackside, so they’re able to charge the car up right there on the track.

What Porsche didn’t tell us was how long it sat charging each time they were forced to come in. The company has previously boasted that its charging times will be quicker than what Teslas are capable of with its Supercharger network, but the number of 800-volt charging stations will likely be a limiting factor. For now, all Porsche has said is that the Taycan will be capable of taking in 96 km of charge in four minutes.

Doing some quick math, [it's estimated] to just under 6.5 hours of charging time. That’s only an estimate — the actual charge time could have been shorter or longer. Obviously, a gasoline car would need to come in for gas pretty often at those speeds, but we’re just trying to get a handle on what the Taycan was up to on this particular run.

Temperatures during the test peaked at 41 degrees celsius. Porsche says the Taycan’s thermal management system was able to keep battery temperatures where they needed to be to run at those speeds and still keep everything cool enough to charge quickly. We’ll just assume that Porsche was pushing everything to the edge for this test.

It previously showed off the car’s thermal capability with consecutive acceleration runs to 200 kph. It took the car from a stop and up to that speed 26 successive times, with each acceleration run under 10 seconds — there was no more than a 0.8-second difference between the slowest and fastest run, too.

I've driven an Ioniq several times and they do an incredible job of getting over 200km (real world) out of the 30.5kWh battery. The efficiency is higher than the 30kWh Nissan LEAF.....plus the battery is actively cooled. It's nice car to drive. I wasn't a big fan of the limited view out the back window, though. I would happily own one. They are OK for longer trips because the battery cooling means you can just charge and go until you get there....be it 500km or 1500km....and they charge reasonably quickly.

But wasn't it on a special track with EV charging unit on the trackside etc.?!

I more taken by this fellows own model3 efforts on a public motorway with traffic and rain etc. 2781km and not in a supercar...

I drove the ioniq as I was looking at options for replacing our current ford focus which is the backup to our leaf. Happy enough with the car and its range especially considering the new 2020 version will have a bigger range.

But then I looked at the extended range model3. If only someone would total my UK leaf which would result in an insurance payout and a sudden need for an nice EV toy. Payout plus saving and then small loan and spreadit over 5 years....

For my next car I'd consider a 2021 Ioniq with 64kWh battery, if such a thing exists at that time.

I do feel that longer range has some very significant advantages and not just that you get a longer range. The higher capacity batteries are happier to output more watts of power = gruntier car. The higher capacity batteries are heated less by charging at a given rate and they can run for longer in between fast charge stops (allowing the battery to cool more) which makes long distance driving MUCH easier. During the work week you can charge them to 70% and not have them drop below 30% - there should be less battery degredation with the more ideal state of charge.

I understand that if buying today, the 64kWh cars are pretty expensive. But luckily for me, my 24kWh Leaf is OK for commuting and if I buy a 2021 car in 2023 then the price will hopefully be not so bad for a 64kWh car by then. I should have a lot more choices by then (Ioniq, Kona, ID3, Leaf +, etc), I can see the future for EVs looking better & better. As the range of choices expand there will be more people keen to go electric.

For someone buying a new car soon, that new 2020 Ioniq with 38kWh battery would be a pretty decent option.

Needs vs wants.
If leaf crashed, I _have_ to buy another EV so why not model3.

I could sell the leaf which is uk so English version with 6.6kwh unit and buy a model 3 but that's a want I don't have to buy. The leaf is working fine...(unfortunately).
