Monaco looks very interesting. Red Bull are a bit closer than the 4/10. Hamilton and Rosberg heading towards Senna-Prost rivalry.

I feel Red Bull can stay with Mercedes, as A) they are close based on quail, and B) the front two will be fighting and defending. The best car or driver won't win Monaco, it will be the one who makes the super softs last longer, and/or who lucks into a favourable pozzie after the safety car.

Please, NO first corner incident that robs any of the first four on the grid

one more variable - here is my ranking of important factors tonight (note for people who don't follow closely those who do well at monaco has no bearing of any other circuits - it's a like a "friendly match")

1) RAIN - no one can drive properly in the rain here because even the wet tyres are too slick, and the barriers are normally centimetres away in the dry, and if someone tries to overtake in the wet = 50/50 crash

2) safety car = penalty shootout /lottery

3) pampering the tyres

I doubt it. Did you watch the GP2 reverse grid from this morning? Somehow in 2-3 laps the top two cars had a 3-5s lead over the 3rd placed car. I expect to see very similar in the F1 tonight. Unless there are extraneous conditions (turn 1 incident or rain) then the Mercs will streak away and unless there are multiple safety cars (at least two I guess when maldonaldo and kobyashi crash??) will lap pretty much the whole field. If it rains then it will be a free for all, maybe the ferraris could take it then?

No, missed the first GP2, have reverse grid recorded for tonight. GP 2 tyres seem to not last like F1 version, but aside from rain and safety car, I can't see them streaking away. Maybe they will, but as I stated, the RB are better the 4/10 behind and the Hamilton/Rosberg won't be doing fast laps they will be inn fighting I reckon. I feel Ferrari are too rear unstable to figure, but Alonso is tops

Monaco without rain or safety car will most likely be a boring race.

Cars going through the tunnel without the scream of the V8 is just... disappointing :-(

That sound is disappointing I have to say. I've been to the Monaco grandprix and was watching some of our video footage of this yesterday quite by accident.
Watching the qualifying last night was a real wakeup call of just how different this current crop of growlers sounds compared to real F1 cars...

Monaco usually plays out as processional, with the lead cars racing away, and then a safety car resetting this lead back to zero, and then repeat again. Rain, as always anywhere, is the best chance of spicing it all up.

Yep, as much as I want a great race I think it will be the two mercs at the front line astern and then 30s back the rest of the field. The mercs have obliterated everyone else in all the dry sessions, I wouldn't be surprised if they are lapping at 1s faster from the first lap. The winner (barring incidents) will be whoever can have the best out/in lap and pitstop between Rosberg and Hamilton.

In regards to the sound, at first I thought it was a joke but I have become accustomed to it now and don't mind it. I went to Hockenheim 2 years ago and the sound was amazing but everything moves on and I think we will just have to get used to the new norm.

No way I simply don't want to get used to eco cars buzzing their way around the track whilst we pretend that racing is in any way environmentally friendly.
Personally I'd rather see the whole raced reduced to the first 10 laps and the end 10 laps, where the racing actually happens at the moment.
That would be more eco than including the mostly fuel saving/tyre saving because they're built to be fragile/fuel burning so your car is finally ligher/no fuel stops/press to pass DRS/pansy period in the middle.

I'm actually pretty interested by the Formula E series.

That was a pretty cool race in the end.
Just wish there were a few more teams at the top of the game, but we haven't had that for quite a few years now unfortunately.
