Where does one get confirmation of the new charges? I've not received notification yet, so assume there's somewhere on line one can confirm the new rates?

have to wait until next year for mine.  I guess rightcar will be correct.  rightcar has mine as band L3 where ACC has it as L4

2012 Ford Ranger XLT double cab 4x4 will be $270.99 per year.

That is a significant drop for me of just under $200/year I think from memory.

Thanks for that; have read the page carefully after entering my number place in but just can't find any specific mention of either cost or its categorisation - am I just a poor reader??!!

What they give with one hand, they take with the other - my 50cc scooter rego has shot up to $169.71/year. At least I only register it over summer. It's on hold when parked up over the winter.

Bottom right of the page - Vehicle Licensing Fee, and 'show more' for specifics

trig42: $238 for a 2001 Skyline.

They have lumped ALL skylines in as one (from 1977 onwards). Bit unfair I think.

Getting rid of it shortly.

Same for my 2002 Skyline (V35)

134 for 2012 Commodore

134 for 2005 Subaru legacy

198 for 1996 Nissan AD that you could sit on and it would start to bend out of shape.

Really seems like its been put together by some monkey with a blatant disregard for the difference in vehicle models and their relative safety features if it is the correct pricing.

For the 1999 WRX with airbags and ABS (although they are now removed as it's a road legal race car with roll cage and 5 point harnesses), $238.45
For the 1996 Corolla with no active or passive safety features, $198.20.
Partners '99 Corolla is $175.20.

Might be time to look at upgrading my daily driver to something a bit newer.

Doesn't really make a whole lot of sense to me other than the WRX is frequently crashed by muppets.
The early WRX's are all lumped together from '93 to '00 despite the '96 onwards having airbags as standard.
Oh well, just another cost of owning it.

Our rego expires 6 days before the new date/pricing. We even got a little brochure with the rego reminder to say "Hey, you might want to only renew for a short period because the price is going down after the 1st"

I paid the full amount for another year, just to annoy everyone.

MikeAqua: The banding won't incentivise the purchase of cars with better safety features.

1997 Nissan Primera SES - $175.20
New Mazda 3 SP 25 - $134.95

The new Mazda 3 SP25 has a 5 star ANCAP rating, and bristles with safety features, yet it is only ~$40 a year cheaper than the Primera which has no ANCAP rating at all.  $40 is trivial in the context of a car purchase decision.

Agreed, but I'm not sure that is the intention is it? It is an attempt at a fairer 'user pays' those with less safety features pay more. In some cases, like the one you have mentioned, and in my case (with a 1977 Datsun being considered the same as a 2001 with airbags. or a 2009 Nissan with all the safety features), no thought or judgement has gone into it at all.
