I see overseas they do 'limebikes', which are battery/motorised bikes. I wonder why they don't do those over here.
Possibly something to do with our helmet laws?
Risk aversion - we have too many waterways for naughty users to 'park' them in.

Surely the same amount of risk as a scooter ending up in said waterways.

Doofus doesnt know how to do a chargeback and is doing the banks work for them?
Depends on your bank. Some won't do a chargeback until you've at least attempted to resolve your dispute with the merchant first.

Yeah the ASB did this to me several years ago when I asked them to do a chargeback. I had to provide all my correspondence to the bank to prove that I had tried to resolve it by myself, then I had to wait a suitable amount of time to give the merchant time to respond, then the bank staff would try to contact the merchant (and wait a suitable amount of time for a response) and then finally they did the chargeback when no response was forthcoming.

Banks won't do that with fraud however. (Well atleast I hope not). Technically this Lime charge was fraud as the payment wasn't authorized by the card holder.
but yes banks will generally want you to do the ground work on disputes with a merchant where you originally authorized the payment.

Not from my experience. We had a payment appear on our bank statement from a shoe brand in Europe, which we hadn't purchased. So it was a fraudulent purchase. The bank required us to contact that store overseas. We contacted who we thought was the store, as the shoe brand operate their own store with the same name that appeared on the bank statement. But they said the store had nothing to to do with them, and it appeared it was another store using the shoe brand name in their store name. So we wasted a lot of time searching for who it couldbe. Eventually the bank took ownership, and also issued a new credit card and refunded it.

That is only if you have been the one to buy the stuff. Stolen card numbers is not your problem at all.

Then you need to remind the bank that they have to do their job under the terms and conditions, and that as you didnt authorize any purchase it must be an error in their system and you will not be paying that part of the statement.
Too many people seem to let merchants and banks pass the buck to them to sort out things that are not the customers problem like courier non delivery etc.
I haven't seen any scooters today when walking around the streets in the Hutt or anyone riding them. Normally I see them all around the place.

Yeah I’d noticed a lack of them around d the Hutt as well. But had seen not announced meant of their removal.
If they’d been removed with no notice, then that’s a pretty crappy business model if you’re wanting people to rely on them, and suddenly they’re not there.
They are showing in the App as being around Upper Hutt, but I didn't spot any on my way to the station this morning (actively looking for them).
Quite strange to scoot around Auckland CBD with only fellow e-scooter owners on the roads...it's quite noticeable by it's absence (the Lime fleet).
