Saw a nice new Model 3 driving around Tauranga a couple of weeks ago. Black with silver trim? The older gentleman driving it was pulled over, looked like he was trying to figure something out.

It’s definitely very easy to speed given the silent acceleration and torque.

The general idea with all these entertainment options I think, is to give you something to do while your car is charging. Could take 30 mins to supercharge from empty, so why not catch an episode of your favourite show...

Could take an hour to add 45kWh at a 50kw charger.

Anyone else here running TeslaUsb? I have a little Raspberry Pi Zero hidden under my center console, plugged into a spare USB port. When my M3 arrives home it automatically uploads all new clips from the dashcam or Sentry Mode to my NAS. Works very well and has already been updated for V10 so it includes the rear camera view (alongside the front, left, right). Means I don't ever have to remember to take a thumb drive out and download the clips.

Next is to write a script to scan for new content and run tesla_dashcam on the clips. That tool combines the one minute clips from all 4 camera feeds into a single multi-min video with all views shown. It has all sorts of options, like different layouts for the 4 camera views, speed-up, even shorten (where it removes duplicate frames to shrink footage).

Pretty awesome what the Tesla community has come up with already!

The instructions on the TeslaUsb Github page are pretty good. I stupidly bought a cheap micro SD card from AliExpress initially and that gave me all sorts of problems. Once I bought a named brand card from a local supplier (PBTech) everything went very smoothly. Been pretty much plug+play since then. There is a link in the README to a video by the guy from CrossTalk Solutions which is a good place to start.

If the Pi loses power does it still set off the alarm due to the disconnected "USB Stick"?

If sentry mode is running then the car is powered up, so it can run the cameras etc. Thus the Pi is powered up. Works like a charm.

Yes, but if the Pi resets/overheats/comes loose and disconnects it sets off the alarm. I'm curious as to whether that is still a problem in V10 with TeslaUSB.

One of the issues raised here: https://github.com/marcone/teslausb/issues/68 - last updated end of June, so perhaps fixed in a later update?

I was on my way to my pre-work gym session and spotted a red Model 3 going the other way not far from where I live out eastern suburbs. Think it had go-faster [if that's possible] stripes and a custom plate that said something like 'zappd'.

I gave a salute as I generally look to do if I spot one in time.
