With 200km range ev it would not add much total time compared with a petrol car. I would just stop and recharge when these breaks are decreed by those in back.
Rural south island can still be challenging just because there can be significant distances between settlements. In my Nelson to Hanmer example you would have to do so many charges because the distance between little towns is just a bit too far to chance it.
The Leaf make sense to me because it's compact little electric car that's perfect for urban driving. You can coax it along on longer trips if you have the time and inclination. The Ironic is a big car with small battery. Seems the worst of both worlds and I just don't get it.
