It's been at least a week since someone posted about an outrageously priced EV that's not yet available in NZ ;p

Reckon this will be a good replacement for my Leaf (and I'm not referring to the Model X):

Talk about challenging to park in a home garage. But on the plus size, it could be used to blow all the dust out of every nook and cranny (:-p)

For as long as I've been flying the Moller Skycar has been the next big thing. Still to happen, however there is this in Slovakia which is flying. I know it's not electric but since the Moller Skycar was mentioned I thought it worth a mention.

No, dude, he doesn't mean the flying car. He's talking about the reasonably priced house with double garage to put it in.

Yip, looks like a prop from the last season of West World.

But the marketing is very slick....

You position your product next to something that is potentially obtainable for a small section of society ( model x at $180K NZD)- to give the impression that your product is equally obtainable, where in fact if it ever did get built it would be in the league of million dollar supercars, and even less obtainable...

Is it a vehicle specific thing, or it it a charger thing?  I guess the car needs to allow discharge via it's cable rather than its own motor, systems.

The F150 is not really Vehicle to grid, but more accurately described as Vehicle to appliance.. you can plug regular 110v devices into the power points on board

It's kind of both. The charging port standard and the car need to support it. Many of the used Leaf from Japan which use Chademo already support it.

The CCS2 charge port currently doesn't support V2G but is said to support it by 2025.

It is vehicle specific and requires CHAdeMO connectivity.

last time i looked its possible with Chademo and about $15k worth of kit installed in the house.

CCS spec has had v2g added but not sure of the status, needs to be implemented on actual cars (no idea what that entails, just software?), and similar kit installed in the house.

I think the house kit is coming down in cost pretty quickly though

I feel a joke coming on.  😇

James Shaw was taking an early morning walk along the beach on Oriental Parade before heading into parliament for the day.

As he walked along marvelling at what a wonderful place Wellington indeed was, he was also being thankful that the troublesome ex coalition partner, and in particular Winston Peters, was no longer sharing the levers of power and the Greens far reaching policies may now see the light of day.

He was also thinking about the climate impact of New Zealand’s transportation system particularly private transport. Only last night he had been looking at a website about an electric flying vehicle that could replace the private car and be used as a ride share vehicle. It was an answer to his prayers and seemed to be too good to be true. It would solve traffic congestion as well as remove pollution from our cities. The environmental impact would be enormous.

While deep in thought about this magical vehicle he stumbled over a strange looking bottle lying in the sand. He picked it up and being a curious person he pulled out the cork to see what was inside. Out popped a Genie. The Genie said, "I can grant you one wish."

Almost without thinking James replied, “Can you make me enough electric flying cars so that I can solve New Zealand’s pollution and traffic congestion problems?”

To which the Genie replied, “Don’t you know how difficult it is to build such a vehicle? The batteries are very heavy. Making such a vehicle even to lift one person is a significant challenge, the fan technology is yet to be proven in a full size vehicle, the control systems are very complex, then there’s the cost’, the average person wouldn’t be able to afford to use it, and finally have you ever dealt with the FAA and all the other National Aviation Authorities? The regulations around building, certifying and operating this type of thing are significant, perhaps there is another wish you would like to make."

James though for a moment and decided yes there was another pressing issue that needed addressing. “Can you provide affordable housing for all New Zealanders?"

To which the Genie replied, “How many of those electric flying cars did you want, and would you like three seats or five?"

One of the expenses is you need "anti-islanding" certification. It prevents the line workers from being killed, when they are working on a line that suppose to have no power.

There's also a secondary optional expense where some will want a second electrical service panel box. This is so important things like refrigerators and heating get emergency power, while less important circuits, like hot water, do not.
