I'd say that's a yes. I'm wondering if the official service centres will service parallel/independent imported vehicles.

Tesla NZ will service them, at your expense. However, you won't be able to Supercharge a Japanese import since Japan uses Tesla's proprietary connector whereas Tesla NZ uses Type 2/CCS. I don't believe any of the connected services in the car will work either as all cars come preloaded with a mobile connection for the region the car is sold in. It's possible you could locate and insert your own data SIM but I'm not sure how well that works - Tesla NZ won't do this for you as far as I'm aware.

Speaking on behalf of average Joe, those prices are out of this world. With major manufacturers now getting on the EV bandwagon big time, you would have to expect massive depreciation over the next few years with those used Tesla prices. But I've been wrong in the past, so maybe on this?

Sign of the times: went to the local Mitre 10 Mega store (Petone) yesterday, there were 2 Model 3’s in car park see photo below Grey M3 to left above The Red M3, both Dual Motor Performance.

True. A water of cheaper EVs will devalue the earlier, relatively more expensive ones.

The same applies to ICE cars, of course. The prices of many 'premium' ICE cars have already begun to slide.

Crazy to buy a new ICE now...

Until Tesla can build an F150 equivalent, at the same price point, Ford are quite safe.

And that's not going to happen in the next three years.

Theres a company in NZ already sucesfully converted a Japanese Model S to use NZ superchargers, not sure of the cost but it can be done now.

In the long-term call me a little suspicious at China's intense interest in having a Tesla factory, given the "copy-cat" mentality. Perhaps some serious Chinese competition, using robots heavily for quality consistency, in the near future?

30 December, Tesla will deliver its first 15 'Made In China' Model 3s.

This marks a huge milestone for Gigafactory 3 Shanghai, which began construction in 2019, and has vehicles rolling off the line just 11 months later ... This may be the fastest a factory has been built in the history of the automotive industry. Now the question is how fast will these sales ramp? I'm estimating Tesla will deliver ~80,000 Model 3's in China in 2020, and end the year at a ~150,000 cars/yr production rate.

No, no I haven't missed the Cybertruck - well, not the hype anyway. What I have missed is seeing one/ten/how ever many I want - in a Tesla store ready for me to walk in, pay my US$30k, and drive it away this afternoon.

If you're quite sure I'm going to be able to do this in the next two years, and bankrupt Ford in the process, I know a Nigerian Prince who'd love to have a chat with you...

Very few places will let you do that unless you’re willing to take what they have sitting in the lot (there are 2x model 3’s in stock right now in Auckland.

Most brand new cars have a order/wait period of days/weeks/months. We were quoted a 6 month wait for a Kona EV from Hyundai. I had to wait about 3 weeks for a Mazda 6 I purchased years ago.
