I dont think tesla is interested in working out how many kms to your home and what $ that costs they just average it out over all the cars.

Its your choice to collect from the store/Auckland or local, it usually takes a few weeks longer to get your car to chc or wherever tho.

Ack that they aren't interested in working that out, and it's an aside from actual EV discussions to be honest, but if it's a flat fee regardless and you can't avoid paying it by pick-up then it should be in the actual price.

They aren't the only crowd that do this, and I know a couple of places have had a smack for doing it - Airlines spring to mind - pretty sure the ComCom have said before that if it's a fee that you can't avoid, it should be included up front, not "hidden". 

Yep problem is everyone else does it so if you add it in your car looks more expensive compared to others. And most others leave a lot of that down to the dealer.

I also dont think tesla should be pushing the price (after savings) either, sure show it but dont make it the default.

That would be interesting I think doc have a couple of evs/phevs over there but no tesla. 

Islands like that are ideal for evs as you can put in renewable power and not have to ship in fossil fuels. Good examples up in scotland.

My understanding is the grid is all diesel at the moment:

I saw an Ioniq 5 parked outside my local Hyndai dealership last week, so clearly they've arrived in the country for test driving - has anyone had a drive of one yet? 

 

There are specs listed for all the NZ variants on Hyndai's website, with that claiming a 384km range (WLTP) for the entry-level model, so imagine I'd need to be comfortable with a real-world mixed urban/open road range of closer to 300, which certainly does make it a line call for our use.

 

On another site I found a 0-100 time for this spec of 8.5 secs, which isn't too surprising given it's only 125 kW/350 Nm and weighs nearly 2 tonnes!  

 

One thing I'd need to get used to if I do end up with either this or the EV6 is compromising on creature comforts like heated seats and certain safety features - with my beer budget it's inevitably going to be a matter of trading a top-spec ICE for an entry-spec EV.

 

Has anyone heard anything on when we can expect more detail (pricing etc) on the EV6, and when that may be arriving in the country?

 

The base model ioniq 5 will be just under $80k.

The model Y SR will be around $77k, with 455km range (vs 384), 0-100 of about 6 seconds, heated seats, autopilot, glass roof, premium stereo etc. 

 

Looks like the standard-range Model Y may well be on the table for our family, provided it does come in under the $80k mark (and in any colour other than white!) - my partner's completely fine with the idea (which was a bit of a shock); my younger son wants it yesterday! If/when it does come to pass I'll look to use your referral code, RobDickinson, given you got me to re-look at my prejudices against/concerns with Teslas.

The Tesla delivery fee has nothing to do with the local delivery cost. I think it's the general cost for getting it to NZ or something but it's definitely not a loclal distance fee.

as for Model Y, I'd be surprised if it arrives before mid next year. AUS is just sucking up too many models and is prioritised.

We'll get it the same time as OZ.

It was just (like 2-3 weeks ago) certified for sale in OZ (and therefore NZ), we'll see it early next year at the latest I think, the holdup for now I feel is local staff capability to handle it

yes, the numbers are usually terrible tho, generally best to sell privately. 

They just farm the cars out to traders and get bottom dollar
