The demos should be in dealerships late this week or early next.

Delivery of sales stock will be down to dealers ability to pre-deliver the cars (grooming, electronics check with maps etc, wof) but I would expect them to be on the road before end of the month if not very early Aug.

The charge socket flap is in an odd place.  Extending down onto the edge of the wheel arch like that it's going to be vulnerable in the event of fender bender, making minor accidents less minor.

I like the rim design

Where did you hear this? I've always been told late August or early September

My 2c.........

I think there will be a shakeout in the EV industry over the next 12 months. Still feels like the early adopter stage of any new technology.

My concern is more around servicing, parts etc over time, plus greater volumes/competition in the future will reduce unit costs for the original sale.

So if you miss out now, I wouldn't worry too much. No FOMO required!!!

Two points:

- For BYD the rumour today that WB quit it, and share price down 12.5% (he's a holder usually so that's interesting) [speculation only at this point....]

- Tesla Motors - not sure what its like in NZ, but lots of moaning in the US about getting them repaired overseas as its all about new sales, so no parts available for repairs.

150kW ... i think i know now that I don't need Tesla's 220kW ... though with 220kW it should be able to pull on the drag strip ...

Here is a guy reviewing the car in China and discussing when it will arrive in Australia/NZ and how it's going to be well received.

https://youtu.be/-pKRFCf93Xs

Interestingly he makes the comment the car for A/NZ will be the Europen spec'ed model. Not sure what the difference between the China and A/NZ model might be, apart from the obvious, but one feature I can see missing on the China version is the electric tailgate - manual in China, electric in NZ

My normal drive is a European car so I'm used to the indicators on the left. But my wife's car is a Holden so indicators on the right. That's quite confusing when I drive both cars.

I'm not a fan of vehicles with large centre consoles between the seats. Any extended time in the vehicle means no room to stretch and the left leg is always jammed and uncomfortable. This guy is large and does not complain at all. Maybe it's not too bad.

First Demo stock arrived in Christchurch. Still to be PD'd (wrap removed, groomed, wof/registered etc) but in the flesh -

Seats are very comfortable and plenty of leg room front and back.

Red string on the doors as a "design feature" will drive parents nuts, quite an audible twang for toddlers to use to annoy parents with.

Acceleration is quite something to behold and even at heavy cornering, traction is decent.

They aren't as big as they seem in the youtube vids.

I am waiting for my test drive in Welly. How is the driver's position height?  Is is reasonably high or more like  a sedan?
