You might never need the true 0-60 acceleration, but it's certainly useful to have for accident avoidance

It's usually a network in Australia and on roaming in nz.

Yeah same here all the ip traffic is touted via telstra oz.

It'll be $150 a year or so, for a 100k car it's about 2 weeks of fuel savings lol.

You can use phone data / hotspot for most things though apart from traffic data and sat View on the map

As a side benefit you get the Australian Netflix library in your car as the traffic is exiting via Australia..

This is clever as it allows the car to roam on any available network for data. NZ-based SIMs can't roam on other networks (unless you see 2 Degrees as roaming on Vodafone).

Yes. It works a lot better than my two phones on two networks due it being on roaming. Less Blackspots when travelling around outside Auckland.

I can’t remember where I saw this but I found out that for New Zealand they use Spark as the roaming network.

Can I ask ... in NZ, how useful, really, is satellite view and live traffic? Reason I ask is most of the reviews I’ve seen have come to the conclusion the Premium is a novelty that wears off, and isn’t worthwhile paying for. Just interested in a NZ perspective here.

I don’t own a Tesla myself but I would assume premium connectivity would only be useful if your phone cannot get signal in certain areas where the Tesla can get signal and if you don’t have an unlimited mobile data plan.

I personally don't use satellite view on the maps. I also don't really need the live traffic view. Without premium connectivity the car will still reroute you through the less congested route.

I do use the built in Spotify player which relies on premium connectivity tho. I also use YouTube from time to time if I'm waiting on my partner in a store. Youtube has actually been pretty useful in the current times as one of the supermarkets has a digital line so I can wait in the car watching videos until my number is called. However, this can be done with your phone to, either by streaming Spotify over Bluetooth or hot spotting your phone to the car for YouTube.
