wow cool how does it know how many cars there are in NZ!
nzkiwiman:
"From memory" as I wasn't aware of a few apps that I am now aware off.
Was at 95% when I picked up the car
41-61% at Tirau (ChargeNet)
~32- 90% at Taupo (SuperCharger) (Auckland to Taupo was "doable" without any stops but I didn't want to risk it)
? - 90% at Magnaweka (SuperCharger)
? - 90% at Johnsonville (SuperCharger)
Attempted a topup in Blenheim (ChargeNet) but it was a fail - in 33 minutes, gained 5% (was freezing and wasn't able to precondition the car)
40-80% at Kaikoura (ChargeNet)
22-95% at Christchurch (SuperCharger)
? - 90% at Timaru (SuperCharger)
23-61% at Dunedin (ChargeNet) (someone else was waiting so I let them have it)
Can't really remember the percentages that I arrived at some of the SuperChargers, though I suspect it was somewhere in the 30% range as I was going to charge in Amberley before getting to Christchurch, but the car said I would make it with 25% and I decided it was worth the risk. I learnt never to take a cold car and try to charge - the trip to the Blenheim charger was a waste of time and $9.
how did the range compare with the stated range?
easiest would be - how many kms did you drive per unit km predicted by the car?
448km on wltp and you'll get 320-350km in reality on highway.
Bjorn gets close to wltp in Norway but our roads suck. And no one drives like the gov tests require.
no it wont go down to 50%, you'll lose some to heating, denser air etc but nowhere near that much
MrAmerica:
Thanks, read. Thanks for the other suggestions above as well. Looks like the Tesla charger is the best and cheapest option for us. I have 3 phase right next to where I want to put a charger.
Yeah you'll need the Wall Connector if you want to take advantage of the 3 phase supply. Fortunately, the Gen 3 Wall Connector includes an RCD so you don't need to pay the $400 for a Type B RCD ontop of the charger cost.
